As part of our continued growth, Unity is seeking a skilled and versatile Field Technician to support and maintain a range of technical systems across client sites in Vancouver, and on the Island. This hands-on role involves service delivery, system implementation, troubleshooting, and coordination with internal teams and external partners. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in access control, surveillance, telephony, and networking, combined with strong communication and documentation skills. Key Responsibilities: Technical Implementation & Support • Install, configure, and maintain access control systems (Avigilon, OMNIA, AmanoNet) • Support surveillance systems and configure IP cameras and fob-based door access • Implement and support telephony systems, including Mitel (MiVB) and SARA pendant systems • Perform VLAN/IP changes, structured cabling, and switch configuration • Provide Tier 2 remote support and assist with MAC (Move, Add, Change) work orders • Respond to SEV1/P1 tickets and provide after-hours/on-call emergency support Preventative Maintenance & Service • Conduct routine system checks and preventative maintenance • Diagnose and resolve service issues promptly and professionally • Complete all service and MAC tickets using Unity’s ticketing system in real time • Ensure work meets documented scope, timelines, and quality expectations Project & Documentation • Coordinate with Project Managers to execute technical tasks and implementations • Create and maintain accurate documentation, including SOPs, floorplans, and wiring diagrams. • Participate in monthly service reviews, identify recurring issues, and recommend process improvements Customer Interaction & Collaboration • Communicate effectively with client staff and Unity's infrastructure and dispatch teams • Provide timely updates before initiating any work on-site • Collaborate with third-party vendors and client IT teams to ensure seamless execution Qualifications: • 3–5 years of field experience in the service and implementation of telecom or security systems • Hands-on experience with access control, surveillance, and telephony systems (e.g., Avigilon, Mitel, NEC, SARA) • Solid understanding of VoIP systems and SIP protocols • Strong LAN/WAN troubleshooting skills; familiarity with VLANs and IP schema management • Basic knowledge of firewall technologies (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto) is an asset • Structured cabling experience: data cabling certifications preferred • Proven ability to coordinate projects, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain detailed documentation • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including after-hours and on-call support • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel. • Demonstrates both character and competence; acts with integrity, takes ownership, delivers high-quality work, and approaches tasks with urgency • Consistently models professionalism, accountability, and ethical conduct Nice to Have • Certification in Avaya (IP Office), Mitel (Business), or NEC (SV9100) systems • Familiarity with Panasonic (TDE/NS100) and Status (SARA) systems • Experience supporting nurse call or senior care technologies • Data cabling certifications (e.g., BICSI, Fluke) • Familiarity with Q360 or similar ERP/ticketing platforms • Experience working in healthcare, long-term care, or other regulated environments • Working knowledge of Bluebeam for reviewing and editing technical drawings • Understanding of low-voltage permitting and safety compliance requirements in BC Job Type: Full-time Pay: $55,667.07-$75,000.00 per year Benefits: • Dental care • Disability insurance • Employee assistance program • Extended health care • Life insurance • Profit sharing • RRSP match • Vision care Licence/Certification: • Current Drivers License (required) Work Location: On the road
