Thales Canada Defense & Security is engaged in supporting the Canadian Armys Land Command Control Communications & Computers (C4) Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (LC4ISR) systems which enable critical decisions daily. Thales Canada is looking for people interested in directly contributing to the evolution of advanced digitized operations for the Canadian Army into the future both in Canada and on overseas deployments. The LC4ISR work is broadly divided into four areas and this opportunity is with the Collaboration and System Administration (CaSA) group at our Ottawa office. We are looking for an Intermediate IT Operations Scrum Master to support deployment configuration and maintenance of core Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software applications as part of an agile team.
A Scrum Master within Thales is responsible for driving the Squad process by facilitating events (e.g. workshops daily stands up) and helping teams to become autonomous self-organized and ready to make decisions thanks to good practices. A Scrum Master should act as a mentor to encourage apprenticeship continuous improvement and feedback culture to set up environment where trust and transparency are key pillars. He/She should also co-create and follow team performance and quality KPIs.
Serve as the Scrum Master for one or more LC4ISR systems administration/software development teams facilitating all Scrum ceremonies (daily standups sprint planning reviews and retrospectives).
Coach teams on Agile best practices and the SAFe project delivery framework fostering continuous improvement and a collaborative culture.
Support planning and execution of software releases ensuring alignment with project objectives timelines and quality standards.
Monitor and report on team performance using appropriate Agile metrics identifying opportunities for optimization.
Act as a mentor to encourage apprenticeship continuous improvement and feedback culture.
Sharing knowledge within the Project Engineering community (news video forum)
Contribute to the capitalization and continuous improvement of Engineering best practices and service offers (running training sessions guidelines etc.)
Support the Head of Discipline to co-create and follow team performance and quality KPIs.
4-6 years of professional experience in scrum methodology and coaching individuals/teams
Capable of developing strong relationships across the business through excellent customer service; Excellent communication skills in the English language written and verbal.
In addition to the minimum professional experience specified above experience in any of the following areas would be considered an asset:
You have a good technical culture especially in Software development (SOLID TDD DDD clean code per / mob programming) continuous improvement and training
You have knowledge of Agile Scrum Kanban XP feature team Advice process
You are able to help a team to tackle human organizational and technical challenges to reach team excellence
