Job Description Engineers within Operational Technology (OT) Operations at Hydro One Networks Inc. are engaged in a variety of challenging and exciting roles and responsibilities. OT is the intersection between traditional IT and Control System Engineering. OT Operations at Hydro One is responsible for software systems and related infrastructure that control Ontario’s electric power system. Engineers are charged with a variety of responsibilities that include automating existing processes, troubleshooting software process failures, specifying requirements for new software systems, supporting system upgrades, etc. A successful co-op in OT Operations at Hydro One would be an individual comfortable with challenging the status quo and driving innovation and new technology in the department. General Accountabilities In this role you will: • Develop technical OT skills (networking, data processing, security, SCADA, etc.) as well as skills relevant to the utility sector (power flow analysis, contingency analysis, etc.) • Learn emerging technologies and implement modern technical solutions to issues within a dynamic team • Learn and implement Dev Ops principles relevant software development principles (CI/CD, Kubernetes, Kanban, etc) • Learn SCADA systems and relevant protocols Duties • Supporting critical software systems for Ontario’s electric power system • Power system modelling • SCADA and controls engineering • Development and maintenance of software tools • Development of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines • Supporting software system upgrades • Networking and Infrastructure • Change Management • Software System Security What we look for • A self motivated individual with an aptitude to learn • Interest in driving change and taking on new challenges • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Leadership skills gained through extracurricular activities or other experience in a dynamic team environment. Selection Criteria • Must meet Co-Op Eligibility Requirements • Successful completion of Second or Third year of an undergraduate degree program in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field. Additional Job Conditions Must be able to provide criminal records check (Personal Risk Assessment) by local police or Commissionaires.
