The Targeted Local Hire Program ("Program") creates alternative job pathways by way of on-the-job training periods as an Office Trainee or Vocational Worker. The Program provides opportunity to those that face significant barriers to stable employment, and will further the City's vision for identifying innovative ways to attract, develop, and sustain an equitable workforce. Please note that the starting salary may vary; however the starting salary will be a minimum of $24.00 per hour. Please confirm the starting salary with the hiring department before accepting a conditional job offer.
• Referral from a WorkSource Center designated as an Application Site by the City of Los Angeles' Targeted Local Hire Working Group; and
• A letter of recommendation from the personnel office of the employing department, which includes a statement of the department's willingness to hire the employee as an Office Trainee or Vocational Worker.
NOTES:
• Applicants must obtain a referral code from a WorkSource Center designated as an Application Site by the City of Los Angeles Targeted Local Hire Working Group. Applicants who fail to include a referral code in the designated section on the application will not be considered further in this examination.
• The letter of recommendation from the personnel office of the employing department described in Requirement No. 2 is required at the time of appointment. Candidates may apply for the Targeted Local Hire Program but cannot be appointed until the letter of recommendation from the employing department is submitted.
Visit a Referring Agency approved by the Targeted Local Hire Working Group for a Program Overview and obtain an Agency Referral Form. You will then be referred to an Application Site for a valid referral code and to submit an online application. All applications for the Targeted Local Hire Program will be reviewed to ensure that there is a valid referral code from a WorkSource Center designated as an Application Site by the City of Los Angeles. Those applications that have a valid referral code will be accepted and eligible for all referral opportunities when there is a vacancy.
