Job Description
Mission
As a Protection and Control (P&C) CO-OP, you will be able to participate in the design of high-level diagrams, the development of the protection philosophy and contribute to large-scale electrical energy projects. You will evolve in a multidisciplinary environment and develop skills by collaborating with experienced professionals, particularly on substation, hydroelectric power stations and renewable energy projects with numerous clients across Canada.
Main Responsibilities
• Design Control and Protection systems with 2D software (AutoCAD)
• Prepare project deliverables, including detail drawings, electrical diagrams, layouts, equipment sizing, etc.
• Collaborate with members of the engineering team as well as project managers from other disciplines
• Prepare plans, drawings and calculations based on specifications provided
• Participate in the development of electrical Command and Protection systems, including single-line diagrams, logic diagrams, three-line AC diagrams, protection and c.c. control diagrams, wiring drawings, device connection drawings, assembly plans, material lists and quotes for the manufacturing and installation on site of Control and Protection panels
• Participate in the development of AC and DC power systems, including single-line diagrams, AC & DC load calculations, AC & DC distribution diagrams, connection drawings of chargers, batteries, inverter, etc.
• Participate in site surveys (stations and power stations)
• Coordinate with engineering disciplines: equipment, civil, mechanical and building in order to develop design solutions for optimized and advanced substation and power plant systems
• Possibility of carrying out site work sporadically when the opportunity arises (start-up or monitoring)
Qualifications
Profile
• Registered in Electrical engineering
• Knowledge of protection and control principles and philosophies is an asset
• Work experience in the design of electrical systems is an asset
• Experience in detailed P&C design with major and/or local utilities in Canada, an asset
• Experience using AutoCAD software is an asset
• Basic knowledge of the office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Autonomous, resourceful, and enjoys teamwork
The salary for this position ranges from $24.65 to $31.05 per hour, depending on your academic profile, the number of credits earned, and your previous co-op or internship experience. The final offer and salary may be adjusted based on your unique profile.
