Reporting to the Technical IT Manager, the Solutions Engineer is responsible for operational procedures and availability for Level Three projects. The Solutions Engineer will be the main “local expert” for the assigned products and systems within the ThinkOn Environment. Please note that this listing is for a current vacancy at ThinkOn. You Will: • Take ownership in managing storage systems • Storage capacity planning and trend analysis via Grafana • Performance monitoring and tuning • SAN/NAS/Unified Storage implementation & administration • Demonstrated excellence withIncident, problem, compliance& change management • Define and implement data protection strategies across storage technologies • Ensure data integrity, availability, and security across all storage layers • Collaborate with development teams to understand their storage requirements and provide best practices • Implement and improve automation for storage provisioning, management, and data protection tasks • Define and enforce storage policies and standards within the platforms • Ownership of escalations • Evaluate and recommend new storage technologies and data protection solutions • Work effectively with cross functional sales /product /engineering teams • Mentoring mindset & providing technical leadership • Effectively over-communicate to partners & customers • Other duties as assigned Storage Administration • Manage and deploy Enterprise Storage from multiple vendors • Hitachi E/G series • Pure Flash Array & FlashBlade • Hitachi Content Platform & Cloud Scale • NetApp Storage Grid • Cohesity • Brocade Fiber Channel deployment, zoning, allocation, & troubleshooting • Responsible for perimeter security and Open-source load balancers • Manage and deploy physical & virtual tape library • Write deployment, operation, and support documentation • Determine and conduct regular benchmark standards for object storage • Provide complex system problem support, troubleshooting and problem analysis for different hardware and software components within ThinkOn systems • Maintain close interactions with all technical and project related teams within ThinkOn, customers and vendors • System deployment, integration and support activities for PDLC • Identify and develop critical alerts and signals for monitoring (Zabbix, SNMP) • Provide on-call support for production systems You Have: • 7+ years of operational experience managing • Enterprise block & S3 compatible object storage • Fiber channel& iSCSI storage connectivity • RedHat EnterpriseLinux/Ubuntu Server • 5+ years hands-on experience withS3 compatible Object Storage platforms • 5+ years of operational experience with Cloud environments • Solid understanding of routing and switching concepts and technology • Experience in a 24/7/365, multi-tiered large-scale production environment. • Qualify to obtain Canadian Government Protected-B /Secret status • ITIL framework certification or experience • Deep understanding of storage concepts and technologies (e.g., RAID, LVM, file systems, object storage). • Experience with storage performance monitoring and capacity planning • Experience with data migration strategies and tools • Solid understanding of data security best practices related to storage • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in storage and data protection domains • SOC or ISO audit/control experience (pertaining to environment security) • Experience with implementation and/or design of Veeam, Zerto, or CommVault will be an asset • Experience implementing and/or maintaining Cloud environment • Ability to commute between Think On data center facilities within the GTA • Qualify to obtain Canadian Government Secret status will be an asset Nice to Have: • Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity planning for data • Familiarity with data lifecycle management concepts • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools for storage provisioning (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) • Scripting skills for automation of storage-related tasks (e.g., Python, Bash) • VMware ESXi • Tape library/virtual tape(QualStar and Spectra) Benefits and Perks: • A remote-first culture • Competitive compensation package • Flexible time-off for vacation, plus illness & personal days • Comprehensive health and dental benefits, including GRSP & 401k Matching Program About ThinkOn Inc. | Where Data Thrives: Founded in 2013, ThinkOn is a managed infrastructure services provider (MISP) with a global data center footprint, focused on empowering partners to do whatever they need to do with their data.
