Job Description: We are seeking Traffic Managers for work at JFK International Airport, Terminal 4, located in Queens, New York. A description of the Traffic Manager position is as follows: • Understand and apply safe traffic control practices. • Actively manage and ensure the continuous flow of traffic. • Engage in customer service; receive and communicate directions, instructions and other information about activity in the area clearly and courteously. • Manage stressful situations, like addressing uncooperative individuals and attempting to de-escalate conflict or confrontation, while keeping a safe environment and professional attitude and demeanor. • Prevent, report, and coordinate the removal of unauthorized persons or vehicles without escalating conflict or confrontation; report illegal activity, unusual activity, hustler activity, and homeless activity. • Continually monitor traffic and weather conditions and report operational impact. • Maintain free-flowing lanes of traffic where needed. • Keep pedestrian crosswalks clear of stopped or standing vehicles. • Prevent the “staging” of vehicles; direct any stopped or standing vehicle to leave the area. • Uphold the policies and standards of SSPTMS and JFK International Airport, Terminal 4. Job Requirements: • You must be punctual and dependable. • You must be able to work outside and in all weather conditions including wind, rain, and snow. • You must be able to stand and walk for as many as eight (8) hours per day. • Strong communication skills, including but not limited to radio communication skills, are required. • You must have a happy, caring, and positive attitude - customer service is important! • You must be able to manage stressful situations, like addressing uncooperative individuals and attempting to de-escalate conflict or confrontation, while keeping a safe environment and professional attitude and demeanor. • You must be able to complete all badging requirements for work on this project (proof of identity, SIDA training, SGT training). • You must complete all other training requirements for work on this project and for employment generally. • You must have a smartphone with cellular service. • You must be trustworthy and ensure confidentiality when necessary. Experience Required: • At least one (1) year of airport/terminal operations knowledge and experience is preferred. • At least one (1) year of flagging, traffic management, airport security, and/or other safety related experience is preferred. Licenses and Certifications Required: • NYS Unarmed Security Guard License (Required for Hire) • Sterile Badge (Required Within 30 Days) • First Aid/CPR/AED certifications (Required Within 90 Days) • 4-hr Flagger, OSHA-30 Construction, and SST certifications (Preferred, Not Required) Job Schedule: The following options are available to Traffic Managers at JFK International Airport, Terminal 4: • 3pm x 11pm, 4 to 5 variable days per week (must include at least 1 weekend day). • 11pm x 7am, 4 to 5 variable days per week (must include at least 1 weekend day). Note: schedules are made in accordance with our business needs and the client’s demands and are always subject to change. Uniform: You must be clean and professional in your appearance, abiding by all uniform and appearance guidelines. • We supply your hat, pin, t-shirt, vest, sweatshirt, winter jacket, raincoat, whistle, radio, lighted baton, and other items for use in extreme weather conditions. • You must provide your own pants and footwear in accordance with our uniform and appearance guidelines. Job Benefits: • Paid sick, safe, and prenatal leave are available, and you may begin to accrue and use it immediately. • Qualifying Traffic Managers are automatically enrolled in medical insurance coverage at no cost – it’s 100% free! To qualify, you must work an average of at least thirty (30) hours per week. Coverage is effective on the 1st day of the month following thirty (30) days of employment. • After ninety (90) days, qualifying Traffic Managers may choose to enroll in other, shared-cost health benefits, including but not limited to expanded medical and prescription benefits, dental and vision benefits, life insurance and AD&D benefits, and short/long-term disability benefits. • 401(k) retirement benefits are available to Traffic Managers over twenty-one (21) years of age, after working for at least six (6) months and at least 1,000 hours. Company matching is available, and full vestment is achieved after three (3) years.
