Overview
Our client is seeking a Project Server Consultant to support the migration from Microsoft Project Online to Project Server (on-prem / Subscription Edition) due to the Project Online end of life in September 2026.
This role will play a key part in designing, standing up, and optimizing a Project Server environment to support large-scale construction project planning, scheduling, and reporting.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience implementing Project Server, working with complex construction schedules, and advising organizations on configuration, governance, and reporting best practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the migration from Microsoft Project Online (PWA) to Project Server (on-prem / Subscription Edition) due to the 2026 end of life
• Design, stand up, and configure the Project Server environment, hosted in Azure
• Advise on Project Server architecture including SharePoint and SQL Server
• Support large-scale construction project schedules with thousands of tasks per project
• Standardize and manage enterprise project templates and scheduling governance
• Enable portfolio-level visibility and executive reporting across multiple construction sites
• Design or support Power BI dashboards for project, portfolio, and executive stakeholders
• Plan and support integrations between Project Server, Procore, and Acumatica
• Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on best practices, utilization, and adoption
• Support planning around timelines, effort, and cost estimates for implementation
Required Skills and Experience
• Proven hands-on experience with Microsoft Project Server (on-prem or Subscription Edition)
• Experience migrating or standing up environments from Project Online to Project Server
• Advanced Microsoft Project scheduling experience
• Experience working with large, complex project plans with thousands of tasks
• Strong understanding of Project Server architecture including SharePoint and SQL
• Experience with construction, capital projects, or infrastructure environments
• Experience with Power BI reporting in a project or portfolio context
• Ability to advise and lead, not just configure
