MEP & ICT Engineer
Role Purpose
To act as the single point of technical authority for all MEP, Infrastructure, and ICT systems, ensuring that consultant designs are fully coordinated, compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with the developer’s operational, digital, and long-term asset strategy.
Key Responsibilities
· Design Governance & Consultant Management
· Review, validate, and approve all MEP, infrastructure, and ICT designs prepared by external consultants at all stages.
· Direct and challenge consultants to ensure designs meet project brief, master plan, authority requirements, and operational needs.
· Ensure cross-discipline coordination between MEP, infrastructure, ICT, architecture, structure, and operations.
· Enforce design standards, performance criteria, and technical guidelines across all projects.
· Lead value engineering efforts
MEP Systems
· Oversee design of HVAC, electrical power, lighting, fire & life safety, plumbing, and utility systems.
· Ensure energy efficiency, maintainability, redundancy, and lifecycle performance are embedded in design.
· Review authority submissions, technical calculations, and system capacities.
Infrastructure
· Manage on-site and off-site infrastructure including roads, drainage, utilities, power, water, sewer, and telecom networks.
· Coordinate with utility providers and authorities to secure approvals and service connections.
· Ensure infrastructure designs support project phasing, future expansion, and constructability.
ICT & Smart Systems
· Oversee ICT, ELV, and digital systems including data networks, structured cabling, security, BMS integration, AV, and smart building platforms.
· Define ICT standards aligned with digital strategy, cybersecurity, and future scalability.
· Review specialist and vendor proposals to ensure technical compliance and value.
· Delivery Support & Risk Management
· Identify technical, coordination, and approval risks early and implement mitigation strategies.
· Support value engineering and design optimization while maintaining performance and safety.
· During construction, review RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, and commissioning strategies.
· Support testing, commissioning, handover, and transition to operations.
Requirements & Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical engineering
· Minimum 15+ years of relevant experience in MEP and infrastructure systems.
· Experience with a reputable engineering consultancy and/or real estate developer is essential.
· Strong experience in design review and consultant management, rather than production design only.
· Experience on large-scale mixed-use, residential, hospitality, or master-planned developments.
· Solid understanding of international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC) and local authority requirements.
· Middle East experience preferred; KSA experience is an advantage.
