• Contract Length: 2 Years • Location: Burnaby, British Columbia Raise is currently hiring an Engineer Transmission Stations Electrical Designer on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada. Description The Electrical Transmission Stations Designer, in this role will play a critical role in the modernization and maintenance of BC’s power grid. You will apply advanced engineering principles to design medium-complexity substation projects, ensuring they are safe, reliable, and compliant with our client’s rigorous standards. This role requires a blend of high-level technical analysis, project coordination, and hands-on field engagement across British Columbia. Responsibilities • Engineering Design: Develop comprehensive electrical design packages for transmission stations (69kV to 500kV). This includes single-line diagrams, station layouts, grounding designs, and equipment specifications. • Technical Problem Solving: Resolve complex or unusual field engineering issues by conducting independent studies and recommending safe, innovative design solutions. • Project Management Support: Assist in meeting safety, cost, and quality objectives by preparing progress reports, proposing budget/schedule adjustments, and reviewing contractor deliverables for payment approval. • Standards & Quality: Contribute to the evolution of ’s technical standards. You will work under ’s Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP), ensuring all work meets EGBC quality management pillars. • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and advice to junior engineers and designers to foster internal capability. • Site Consultation: Travel to various sites across BC to perform assessments, verify design implementations, and • support construction teams. Qualifications • 8 years of experience in electrical engineering, specifically focused on high-voltage substation or transmission station design ( (69kV to 500kV) • Prior experience working within a major North American utility is highly valued. • Experience creating Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Plan & Elevation layouts, and Grounding Grid designs using software like CDEGS or AutoCAD. • Experience writing technical specifications for power transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, and instrument transformers (CTs/VTs). • Experience with performing site walk-downs, condition assessments, or providing Construction Support (RFI responses) • Previous experience using inventor software ( nice to have) • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a willingness to travel to remote sites across BC. • Education and Skills • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng), and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired Additional Information • Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment. • Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”.
