Role Summary / Purpose:
The AVP – Scrum Master will lead multiple Scrum and Kanban teams focused on delivering Strategic Initiatives. This role requires close collaboration with product owners, engineering teams, business stakeholders, and ART leadership to drive prioritized, innovative solutions into production. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in Agile methodologies and project management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering technology-driven Agile projects.

Essential Responsibilities
• Champion and apply the Agile Manifesto, SAFe core values, Lean-Agile mindset, and SAFe principles to lead multiple high-performing, cross-functional Scrum and Kanban teams.
• Ensure development stories, acceptance criteria, assumptions, and related documentation are complete and timely to support development, testing, and user acceptance.
• Assist Product Owners in creating, communicating, and executing roadmaps; manage and track project plans to ensure on-time delivery.
• Communicate effectively across diverse audiences, including Sprint team members, key stakeholders, and executives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including architects, engineers, UX designers, and external vendors—to develop holistic roadmaps and product delivery plans.
• Manage all Scrum and SAFe ceremonies, including Daily Standups, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Planning and Review, Release Planning, Demos, Retrospectives, Scrum-of-Scrums, Inspect and Adapt events, and PI Planning.
• Maintain sprint discipline by managing process, priorities, and delivery to ensure accuracy and timeliness while shielding teams from distractions.
• Proactively identify and eliminate waste and impediments to optimize team performance.
• Work closely with Product Owners and QA teams to ensure timely testing and feedback aligned with sprint timelines.
• Advocate for autonomous, self-organizing, and empowered teams committed to continuous improvement.
• Coach teams and Product Owners to improve customer satisfaction, increase velocity and delivery predictability, enhance system performance, and support innovation, scalability, and compliance.
• Lead prioritization of production support issues with key stakeholders, driving continuous process improvements.
• Facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders and project teams to share status updates and monitor project health.
• Create, assess, update, and maintain Agile documentation; generate key Agile metrics reports such as velocity and burn-down charts.
• Serve as the Agile learning lead and coach for the team.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 5 years of overall experience.
• Minimum 5+ years of IT experience.
• At least 5 years of experience with Jira, Agile methodologies, and other project management tools.
• Solid understanding of Agile concepts and familiarity with the SAFe framework.
• Demonstrated success owning and delivering mission-critical projects on time and within budget.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams.
• Strong ability to develop and sustain collaborative relationships across IT and business stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
• Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required
Desired Characteristics
• SAFe Agilist and SAFe Scrum Master certifications.
• Experience with Jira, Jira Align, and Confluence.
• Prior experience in Banking or FinTech industries.
• Leadership experience at a strategic level within cross-functional teams.
• Hands-on experience in Agile, Scrum Master, and project management roles.
• Proven capability leading Agile teams within the SAFe framework, especially in cross-functional settings.
• Strong business acumen and excellent decision-making skills.
• Self-motivated, proactive professional with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives effectively.
• Ability to understand technical project requirements and effectively manage resources, vendors, and testing efforts.
• Self-starter with a quick learning ability, initiative, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines under pressure.
• Exceptional communication skills and a high level of motivation and initiative.
Grade/Level: 10
The salary range for this position is 75,000.00 - 130,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements
• You must be 18 years or older
• You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
• You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
• New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
