Job Description & Requirements
We are seeking a skilled VMware Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing VMware-based virtualized environments. This role will involve collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored infrastructure solutions, ensure seamless integration, and maintain a high level of system performance, scalability, and security for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Solution Design and Delivery: Design, deploy, and manage VMware vSphere / vcf environments, including clusters, resource pools, storage, and network configurations. Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into VMware-based solutions tailored to client needs. Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning for VMware infrastructures to meet operational needs.
• VMware Infrastructure Management: Administer VMware VCF, vSphere, vCenter, ESXi hosts, and VMware vSAN environments. Implement and manage VMware vRealize Suite for automation, orchestration, and monitoring of VMware environments.
• Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting: Perform root cause analysis for VMware infrastructure performance issues and implement corrective actions. Optimize VMware clusters and virtual machines to maximize resource utilization and minimize overhead. Monitor and proactively troubleshoot virtualized environments, identifying and resolving issues before they impact operations.
• Security and Compliance: Implement best practices for securing VMware environments, including patch management, network segmentation, and user access control. Ensure compliance with industry standards (HIPAA, PCI DSS, GDPR, etc.) by following proper security and auditing procedures. Work with security teams to address vulnerabilities and ensure data protection in virtualized environments.
• Client Engagement & Consulting: Engage with clients to understand their infrastructure needs and business objectives, advising on the best VMware solutions. Guide clients through solution deployments, providing expert-level advice and best practices for VMware infrastructure management.
• Documentation and Reporting: Document solution designs, implementation steps, and operational procedures. Provide clear and comprehensive reporting on the health, performance, and security of VMware environments. Maintain and update knowledge repositories and standard operating procedures for VMware-related tasks and processes.
Key Qualifications:
• Experience: 5 years of experience working with VMware solutions (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, vRealize Suite).
• Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing VMware-based solutions in production environments.
• Experience in delivering solution-based projects from start to finish, with a focus on customer satisfaction and performance.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) and hybrid cloud integrations with VMware.
Skills & Competencies:
• Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and related technologies. Familiarity with VMware automation and orchestration tools (e.g., vRealize Automation, vRealize Orchestrator).Understanding of storage (vSAN) and network configurations in VMware environments.
Certifications (Preferred):
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) in Data Center Virtualization or Cloud.
• VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) in Data Center Virtualization or Cloud.
• VMware Cloud Management and Automation certifications (vRealize Suite).
• Additional certifications in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) or networking (CCNA, CCNP) are a plus.
