Position: TEACHER (PHP PROGRAM) - PART TIME (PEL REQUIRED) Responsibilities We are looking for part-time Teachers to join our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) located in Garfield Park. The child/adolescent partial hospitalization program (PHP) is designed for school-age children who may benefit from therapeutic behavioral health services but do not need 24‑hour monitoring, and for adolescents ages 12‑17 who struggle with a behavioral health disorder or mental health issues but are stable enough to live at home during treatment. The position would be 20 hours / week, including teaching two classes per day (10am‑11am and 11am‑12pm) Monday through Friday. JOB SUMMARY: Provides instruction to patients while maintaining an orderly and disciplined structure in the classroom. Develops special interventions for patients unable to function within the classroom setting. Assists in curriculum development. Understands the basic growth and development milestones with appropriate interventions specific to the age and population served. Completes patient lesson plans. Completes and maintains all records as required. Maintains an adequate supply of appropriate instructional materials relative to patient’s age and functioning level. Assures the maintenance of a safe and sanitary environment. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, Masters preferred. Experience: One year teaching ED/BD children and/or adolescents preferred. Licensure/Certification: Valid Illinois teaching certificate (PEL) required; certification in Special Education preferred. Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of effective teaching skills and educational strategies with a special education population, individual and group management skills, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and crisis and behavior management.
