Our client is a profitable, growing medical device company focused on creating next level cardiovascular electrophysiology applications. We seek a full-time Software Engineer to join our growing team in Southern California (hybrid; office location TBD as we establish our local hub). This role is part of a cross-functional team developing a new platform for cardiovascular ablation applications, one of the fastest growth segments of the market. You will design, implement, and verify embedded and system-level software that enables safe, reliable, and compliant operation of complex medical devices. This junior- to mid-level engineer will be involved in both embedded C development, working with microcontrollers and processors, as well as developing complex UI components for the system, effectively operating in both worlds. An ideal individual will want to work in both aspects of the embedded system, and be the go-to software engineering handling low and high level development.
Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain embedded and/or system-level software for medical device platforms, working in both C and Object Oriented languages
• Derive software requirements from system-level requirements and maintain traceability.
• Implement robust software architectures supporting real-time performance and safety.
• Develop and execute software verification and validation activities per IEC 62304.
• Participate in software risk analysis and implementation of risk controls.
• Support hardware/software integration and system-level testing.
• Create and maintain software documentation (requirements, design, test protocols, reports).
• Support regulatory submissions and audits with software-related documentation.
Qualifications
• Experience developing embedded C code along with Object Oriented Development in C# or similar tool like C++, Java, Python
• History in working with microcontrollers, microprocessors or other hardware technologies for embedded development, along with connecting UI to the system.
• Experience collaborating with global teams to execute on time and on budget.
• Experience in a regulated industry preferred

• Proficiency in C/C++ and/or other relevant languages.

• Product development mindset- not exclusively "coding"
Nice to Have
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Exposure to energy-delivery or safety-critical systems.

Additional Information
• Business travel of up to 15% may be required.
