Overview We are looking for a Senior Systems Reliability Engineer (SRE) to strengthen the reliability and sustainability of our computing and control systems that power advanced manufacturing R&D. In this hybrid role, you’ll engage with software, networking, embedded systems, and industrial controls — helping bring prototypes to production and ensuring long-term operational reliability. You’ll collaborate closely with production and R&D teams, identifying failure modes early, improving observability, and designing and refining processes that keep critical systems running smoothly. This position is ideal for a hands-on problem solver with broad technical experience who enjoys diagnosing and solving complex issues across IT, OT, and embedded environments. --- Key Responsibilities • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to transition prototypes into reliable, supportable production systems. • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across hardware, software, firmware, and network layers. • Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and automation systems that improve uptime and visibility. • Develop tools, scripts, and workflows to streamline deployment, configuration, and maintenance of mixed IT/OT systems. • Support integration between IT infrastructure and operational technology (edge computing, controllers, sensors, data pipelines). • Contribute to system design reviews, risk assessments, and reliability testing. • Document architecture, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures to ensure continuity and shared ownership. • Promote a culture of reliability engineering, cross-training, and sustainable system operation. Required Skills & Experience • 5+ years in systems engineering, SRE, or similar multidisciplinary technical roles. • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across software, networking, and embedded systems. • Experience with Linux and Windows administration, scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell), and version control (Git). • Understanding of industrial or embedded communication protocols (TCP/IP, Modbus, SPI, I²C, UART, etc.). • Familiarity with PLCs and IEC 61131 programming environments. • Experience with virtualization, containerization (Docker), or automation/orchestration frameworks. • Excellent documentation and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications • Exposure to monitoring and observability platforms (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, etc.). • Experience in advanced manufacturing, laboratory, or R&D environments. • Understanding of cybersecurity principles for connected or networked control systems. • Familiarity with data collection and edge computing frameworks. Work Environment • Hybrid: Mix of on-site hands-on work with remote flexibility. • Collaborative: Partner with cross-functional engineering teams. • Impactful: Build sustainable systems that enable innovation and reduce downtime.
