The Opportunity
Silvus is seeking a Senior Product Engineer who will report to the Director of Product Solutions. This role oversees the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring designs are innovative, functional, and meet customer and business needs. Key responsibilities include generating product requirements, designing and developing products, conducting prototype testing, providing product integration and testing support, facilitating cross-functional collaboration, and leading technical projects.
The successful candidate will use expertise to solve complex technical challenges, improve product performance, and drive continuous improvement throughout the product life cycle.
The Senior Product Engineer position is based at Silvus Technologies’ headquarters in West Los Angeles, CA, and is on a hybrid schedule with a minimum of 3 days onsite per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays).
Role And Responsibilities
• Lead the design, development, and testing of new products, iterating with design engineers (EE, mechanical, and software) and product managers.
• Component selection, schematic capture, and PCB design of electrical systems based on an FPGA SoC with memory devices, transceivers, communication peripherals, and power management circuitry.
• Define PCB stack up, materials, and design rules to meet performance requirements and manufacturing feasibility.
• Perform hardware bring-up, test, and root cause analysis on the bench using common lab equipment.
• Evaluate risk assessments and mitigation paths (technical, schedule, resources) across the design team during the design process.
• Coordinate resources, resolve technical challenges throughout the product development lifecycle, including design for manufacturing, build cost analysis, and transitioning from engineering into pre-production and production (BOMs, drawing updates, configuration management, test plans, etc.).
• Plan, organize, and conduct product and system integration, testing, and validation, including support for thermal testing/analysis, mechanical/electrical fit checks, FAAT, and related testing.
• Ensure product designs meet MIL-STD environmental, EMI, EEE, and human factors specifications (e.g., MIL-STD-810,

-1472) as appropriate by formulating test plans and outsourcing.
• Provide technical direction and mentor junior team members, as appropriate.
• Perform other related duties of which the above are representative.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
• At least 6 years of experience in mixed signal circuit design involving audio, SoCs, and Xilinx FPGAs, with demonstrated experience in complex mixed signal PCB design and HDI routing.
• Experience implementing digital communication peripherals at a hardware level, such as USB 3.0, 10
Gb Ethernet, and RS232.
• Strong familiarity with test equipment such as DMM, benchtop supply, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and spectrum analyzer.
