Job Title: Automation QA Lead Contract Duration: Jan 5, 2026 – Dec 31, 2026 (12 months) Rate: $50–$60/hr Positions: 1 Work Arrangement: Hybrid – Remote initially; 2 days onsite per week starting March Location: Downtown Toronto (walking distance to Union Station) Schedule: Monday–Friday, Core Business Hours Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Automation QA Lead to lead testing initiatives within a payments-focused business environment. This role requires strong hands-on automation expertise combined with the ability to lead testing teams, mentor junior resources, and align testing delivery with business objectives and timelines. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role requiring deep domain knowledge in payments and modern automation frameworks. Key Responsibilities • Lead and mentor automation and manual QA teams across multiple initiatives • Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation testing frameworks • Create and execute automated test cases for Web and API applications • Drive testing strategy, defect management, and quality standards • Align testing processes with business goals and project timelines • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to ensure high-quality deliverables • Support projects in both Waterfall and Agile/Scrum environments Must-Have Skills & Experience • 13+ years experience working in and leading QA/testing teams • 7+ years hands-on automation testing experience • Strong proficiency in Selenium, Playwright, Postman, JMeter (or similar tools) • Hands-on experience designing automated tests for Web and API applications • Strong experience with HP ALM and JIRA • API testing experience (required) • Deep payments domain knowledge including ACH, EFT, Wire, and Instant Payments • Strong understanding of ISO 20022 changes and payment messages • Experience delivering in both Waterfall and Scrum/Agile environments • Demonstrated ability to mentor teams and foster collaborative, high-performance environments Nice-to-Have • Experience working directly on the business side of testing • Experience streamlining QA processes for enterprise delivery environments • Exposure to CI/CD integration for automated testing Soft Skills • Strong communication and stakeholder management • Ability to build and maintain cross-functional relationships • Highly organized with strong delivery focus • Comfortable leading in complex, fast-paced environments Performance Measured By • Quality and reliability of test coverage and automation frameworks • Defect leakage and production quality metrics • Team effectiveness and delivery against timelines • Stakeholder satisfaction
