Overview
QC Inspector Offshore Shutdown (Piping/Welding/NDT)
Responsibilities
• Quality Assurance & Compliance: Inspect piping installations, welding, valve fitting, and structural repairs per ASME B31.3, API 570, and client standards (QP/Qatargas/Shell).
• Verify material certifications (MTCs), WPS/PQR, and NDT reports (RT/UT/MPI/PT).
• Monitor bolt torqueing, flange alignment, and gasket installation.
• Welding & NDT Oversight: Witness welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW) and ensure compliance with WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications).
• Review NDT (Radiography, Ultrasonic, Dye Penetrant) results and approve/reject welds.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain inspection test reports (ITRs), punch lists, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
• Use SAP or ICAP systems for QA/QC documentation.
• HSE & Shutdown Coordination: Ensure PTW (Permit to Work), LOTO, and confined space safety protocols are followed.
• Coordinate with construction supervisors, engineers, and third-party inspectors.
Qualifications
• Education: Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Welding Engineering or related field.
• Certifications (Mandatory):
• CSWIP 3.1/3.2 (Welding Inspection), AWS CWI, or ASNT Level II (RT/UT/MPI/PT).
• BGAS/NACE (for coating inspection if applicable).
• BOSIET/HUET (Offshore Safety Certification).
• Experience: 5+ years in oil & gas QC inspection, with 3+ years offshore shutdown experience.
• Familiarity with QatarEnergy (QP), Shell, or TotalEnergies standards.
• Proficient in reading P&IDs, isometrics, and ITPs (Inspection Test Plans).
• Knowledge of SAP, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
