Yet, for all the talk of ‘smart cities’ they’re not so smart. Maybe traffic and utilities are managed more effectively, but how are people’s day-to-day lives improved?Our aim is to build a data product that connects everything, turning smart cities into cognitive cities - a data platform that has been designed to turn data into interoperable, high quality data products on a mass scale.We’re looking for a Product Manager to lead the product team building the information backbone of everything in a next generation cognitive city in the Middle East - think of a new type of data mesh, the first of its kind, which will enrich the daily lives of citizens, whilst empowering sectors and services.You will be part of a new team that operates semi-independently within Nortal and help drive strategy development, opportunity sizing, experimentation and KPI definition, and work with Product Owners to bring the project to life.**What you'll be doing**: - You will lead a product team building the data mesh and identify new users/user needs/market opportunities/service ideas, and help define strategies that solve for these. - You’ll build a data ecosystem (think of information backbone of the cognitive city) that supports the most advanced edge of today’s technology. - You will leverage various methodologies (design thinking, experimentation, etc) to validate assumptions quickly, using the insights to drive iterations of the strategy. - You will define KPIs to measure product success. - You will define a high-level roadmap that outlines how the product will evolve over time to realise the vision, and work closely with the Product Owners to realise this. • *What you’ll need**: - 5+ years of relevant professional experience in product companies, with background in data governance, data management, data quality, data integration, master data management, analytics or other related data technology sectors. - Strong technical background with the ability to quickly develop deep product knowledge and communicate the business values to the field and customers. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work well with internal cross-functional teams such as Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Legal, Operations, etc. - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Computer Science or a related technical discipline. - Experience with master data management, product information management, data governance, data warehousing, business intelligence or data visualization is a plus. - Experience with Cloud (SaaS) software, noSQL databases, graph databases and/or Big Data technologies is a plus. • *About you**: - You are comfortable with a big vision, lots of ambiguity and shifting priorities. - You know how to find a balance between blue sky thinking and ideation, to tactical delivery needs. - You love to take an opportunity area, explore potential possibilities, and run experiments to quickly validate assumptions. - You can bring product vision to customer to shape the conversation and sell the product before it has requirements. - You have experience working in a cross-functional team, involving research, design, engineering, data analysis etc. - You have strong empathy for customers and can identify their current and future needs. - Willingness to travel 30% of the time to the Middle East, where you will be able to interact with end users directly.
