PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR
M. Davis Landscape & Design is currently seeking a payroll administrator to join our team.
• Accurate and timely end to end processing of payroll and payments via direct deposit
• Process wages for hourly & salaried employees on a bi-weekly basis
• Review & importing of hours through our time & attendance software
• Continual communication with supervisors to ensure accuracy of hours and absenteeism.
• Checks for accuracy and completeness of all documentation pertaining to new hires, employment terminations, salary / wage changes in accordance with company policy and applicable legislations.
• Work closely with new employees and our Health & Safety department to get new hires onboarded and trained
• Address payroll issues as they arise in accordance with the company's policies and procedures
• Employee set up in payroll software, HR software – handling of all documentation
• Responsible for the preparation of all monthly, quarterly and/ or annual employer related filings – passing on to accounting department for payment.
• Works with accounting department to ensure the timely balancing of general ledger accounts as they relate to payroll function
• Maintains records of garnishment notices, family support requirements to pay and other legal matters related to employees and / or payroll
• Ensures employees are set up with appropriate deductions for group insurance plans and group RRSP plans, as applicable and ensure these deductions are remitted on a timely basis
• Ensure Records of Employment are prepared in prescribe timeframes for employee terminations and leaves
• Responds to government requests as required
• Assist in reconciliations – WSIB, T4’s, EHT…etc
• Assist in generating payroll and time keeping reports for management and accounting
• Other payroll related duties
• Basic HR administrative duties
• Other administrative duties as required
Required Qualifications:
• Certificate (or higher) in payroll or a related field
• Canadian Payroll Association certificate is an asset
• Superior communication & interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work under tight time constraints
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity
• Knowledge of Ontario Employment Standards & other payroll-related legislation for Ontario
• Strong Microsoft skills
