Job purpose and objective
ADSS is a successful retail and institutional brokerage based in Abu Dhabi with operations in the United Kingdom. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing and overseeing Linux operating systems. Your responsibilities include ensuring system efficiency, conducting regular maintenance checks, troubleshooting issues, performing repairs and monitoring system performance to ensure optimal operations.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
Responsible for the support and maintenance of all Linux servers – physical or virtual – within the ADSS Infrastructure landscape.
Infrastructure Management
• Install, configure and maintain infrastructure components in a virtualized and on premiss Linux environment.
• Plan and execute the migration/upgrades of applications and operation systems versions.
Architecture and Operational Support
• Manage the architecture and operational aspects of the Linux environment.
• Develop and maintain system-level applications using shell scripting (BASH) and Python.
• Provide Fanatical Support to customers by creating sustainable and maintainable environments.
Performance and Reliability
• Analyze systems and conduct usability testing to ensure performance, reliability, scalability, and security compliance.
• Be part of the operations team responsible for engineering trading (HFT/Low Latency) infrastructure.
Server Administration
• Fully manage the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of all aspects of Linux servers.
• Administer several Linux servers in a hybrid on-premises and cloud environment.
• Provide direct mission support in both classified and unclassified Linux desktop and server environments.
Troubleshooting and Resolution
• Administer, troubleshoot and resolve failures and critical alerts on Linux servers.
Scripting and Automation
• Write and troubleshoot Linux shell scripts.
• Background in SaaS infrastructure and service development across various software, operational and networking aspects
Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field.
• Relevant certifications in ITIL, RHCSA, PKI, RHCE, OS, MCSE, CISSP, CCNA, AWS, Azure beneficial.
Experience
Ability to work in fast-paced environments with frequent release schedules
Financial services / brokerage experience is beneficial
Skills
• Proficiency in Linux and general UNIX operating systems concepts.
• Extensive systems administration experience
• Knowledge of DevOps Skills and Methodology is beneficial.
• Knowledge of DNS, scripting languages, LDAP, routing protocols and storage technologies (NAS or SAN)
• Familiarity with Chef and CFEngine
• Proficiency in standard Linux tools, LVM, scripting languages (BASH, Python), and core technologies.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP networking, load balancers, firewalls, and advanced network concepts.
• Experience with Ansible Terraform or similar configuration management tools.
• Manage in-depth server audits and proactively identify risks.
• Solve complex incidents escalated by junior engineers.
