Technical Lead – Order & Execution Management Systems (OMS / EMS)

My client is a rapidly growing, Asia-focused multi-strategy hedge fund with strong institutional backing and a technology-driven trading platform. As part of its next phase of growth, the firm is building a brand-new, in-house Order Management and Execution Management System to support its expanding systematic and electronic trading desks.
They are hiring a Technical Lead / Development Lead to own this initiative end-to-end.
The Role
This is a greenfield OMS / EMS build, designed and developed in-house. The successful candidate will take full ownership of architecture, design, and delivery, building the initial platform personally and then scaling a team around them.
The system will be bespoke, high-performance, and tightly integrated with the trading business. While some integration with existing vendor platforms (e.g. FlexTrade) is required, this is not a vendor-led or configuration role.
Key Responsibilities
• Architect and build a new OMS / EMS from the ground up
• Define order lifecycle, execution workflows, and system architecture
• Work directly with systematic and electronic trading desks
• Own integrations with venues, brokers, and vendor platforms
• Set engineering standards and long-term technical direction
• Hire and lead a small engineering team as the platform scales
Requirements
• Proven experience building or leading the build of an OMS and/or EMS
• Strong understanding of electronic trading and execution workflows
• Background in investment banking, hedge funds, or proprietary trading
• Strong system design skills in low-latency or high-throughput environments
• Hands-on engineering mindset with leadership capability
Technology
• Core stack: Rust and Python
• Candidates do not need prior Rust or Python experience
• Backgrounds in Java, C++, or C# are welcome, provided there is willingness to transition stacks
