Responsibilities The C&DR Intern will primarily work closely with the Infrastructure & Solutions Architect’s and Engineer’s on projects but will also participate in BAU support where required. Out of hours work will be required to complete some projects or system updates, these responsibilities are shared within the team. • Building, automating, deploying and managing end-to-end solutions within Kroll’s Hybrid Cloud data center environments. • Work closely with Infrastructure & Solutions Architects and Engineers to support delivery of priority initiatives across Kroll’s Hybrid Cloud and data center environments, while also contributing to business-as-usual (BAU) operational support as needed. • Support project execution discipline by tracking tasks and dependencies, capturing decisions and action items, and producing concise status updates for stakeholders. • Collaborate effectively across a global organization, partnering with internal teams and third parties to drive progress, unblock issues, and maintain a high standard of delivery. • Demonstrate strong ownership by independently driving assigned workstreams to completion, proactively identifying improvements, and escalating risks early with recommended options. • Help maintain and improve runbooks and operational procedures (standard operating procedures, escalation paths, recovery steps), ensuring content is clear, current, and reusable by the broader team. • Participate in technical design and delivery documentation, collaborating with the Solutions Designer, Development Architect, and third parties to ensure design artifacts are accurate, complete, and maintained through implementation. • Assist with threat intelligence and research tasks by monitoring credible sources, summarizing emerging threats and vulnerabilities, and translating technical details into concise implications and recommended actions for internal and client audiences. Requirements • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a closely related technical field • Graduation date between December 2026 and September 2027 • Strong verbal/written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, well-structured client-ready content (emails, notes, executive summaries, and slide narratives). • Foundational cybersecurity knowledge, including common threats (phishing, ransomware, credential theft), basic defensive concepts, and security terminology. • Understanding of core IT concepts: Windows and Linux fundamentals, identity/access basics, and general network concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, VPN). • Familiarity with cyber risk and governance frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, CIS Controls, ISO 27001 concepts) and how controls map to risk reduction. • Research and analytical capability—comfortable gathering information from multiple sources, synthesizing key themes, and documenting evidence-based conclusions. • Exposure to incident response lifecycle concepts (preparation, identification, containment, eradication, recovery, lessons learned) and the importance of documentation and evidence handling. • Comfort with data organization and light analysis (Excel/Sheets) to track findings, actions, milestones, or trends; able to maintain clean, auditable records. • Strong attention to detail and quality control, including proofreading, version control awareness, and consistency in formatting and terminology. • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while appropriately escalating blockers, risks, or uncertainties early. • Professional maturity and discretion—able to handle sensitive information appropriately and follow internal policies and client confidentiality requirements • Nice to have (not required): basic scripting (Python/PowerShell), familiarity with cloud concepts (AWS/Azure), OSINT exposure, or cybersecurity certifications/coursework (e.g., Security+, ISC2 CC). Preferred Skills • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to translate IT technical language into everyday terms which users can understand, specifically non-technical senior management. • Ability to interact with customers to ensure that the service is flexible, efficient, and responsive. • Client service mindset - professional, responsive, and comfortable engaging with stakeholders to clarify requirements, confirm priorities, and manage expectations. • Executive communication ability - can distill complex topics into succinct takeaways, implications, and recommended next steps for decision-makers. • Strong writing and presentation skills, including ability to build well-structured slides, talking points, and briefings for mixed audiences. • Collaboration and teamwork - works effectively with cross-functional teams (cyber, IT, legal/compliance, third parties), contributing positively in a fast-paced environment. • Time management and prioritization - handles multiple tasks, meets deadlines, and provides proactive status updates and risk flags. • Adaptability - able to switch between research, documentation, and meeting support as priorities shift, comfortable learning new tools and methods quickly. • Ownership and accountability - takes initiative, follows through to completion, and demonstrates sound judgment in ambiguous situations. • Organizational discipline - keeps notes, action items, and evidence organized; maintains clear artifacts that can be reused and audited.
