Position: Intermediate Cloud Strategist
Duration: 4 Months assignment (contract)
Client Location: Toronto (Hybrid: 7.25 hours/day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday)

About the Engagement
The Intermediate Cloud Strategist will play a critical role in shaping cloud financial governance and cost‑optimization strategies within Azure environments. This consultant will collaborate closely with Finance, Engineering, and Cloud Operations teams to drive forecasting accuracy, improve cloud visibility, and support enterprise cloud transformation.
Scope
The selected consultant will support enterprise cloud financial management functions by:
• Supporting and driving cloud cost‑optimization strategies by identifying over‑provisioned or underutilized Azure resources.
• Working closely with engineering and product teams to embed financial perspectives into design and architecture decisions.
• Collaborating with vendors and procurement teams to evaluate pricing structures and identify savings opportunities.
Assignment Deliverables
• Develop and maintain multi‑year cloud cost forecasts aligned with technology and business roadmaps.
• Design and implement an enterprise-wide Azure tagging strategy to support cost attribution and governance.
• Produce executive dashboards, variance analysis, and reporting using Azure Cost Management, Apptio Cloudability, and Power BI.
• Identify and drive cloud cost‑optimization opportunities across engineering and product teams.
• Lead tagging remediation activities to improve cost transparency, chargeback/showback accuracy, and reporting quality.
Expertise Required
Must Have:
• Minimum 4 years’ experience with cloud FinOps tools such as Apptio Cloudability.
• Strong understanding of Azure billing, cloud consumption patterns, and cost‑optimization levers.
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing tagging strategies and governance controls.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and Power BI for forecasting and analytics.
• Proven ability to translate financial data into actionable insights for technical and non‑technical audiences.
• FinOps Certified Practitioner (or equivalent certification).
Nice to Have:
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, or cloud automation.
• Background in cloud architecture, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering.
• Experience with hybrid cloud transformation initiatives.
• Familiarity with Azure Policy or custom scripting for tagging enforcement.
