Role Summary:
We’re looking for a versatile and detail-oriented Fashion Apparel Designer to support the design and development of our collections from concept through production. This role is ideal for a designer who can seamlessly balance creative design with technical execution — owning garment construction, fit, and technical specs while also creating original prints, patterns, and surface designs.
You’ll work closely with leadership to bring thoughtfully designed, production-ready apparel to life. This role requires both strong aesthetic sensibility and a deep understanding of garment construction and technical design. This position is part-time and in-person in Downtown Los Angeles.
Responsibilities:
Apparel Design & Concept Development
• Design seasonal apparel collections aligned with brand identity and creative direction
• Create original prints, patterns, and surface designs for garments across categories
• Develop color palettes, print layouts, and pattern placements for production
• Research trends, fabrics, silhouettes, and market direction to inform design decisions
Technical Design & Product Development
• Create detailed tech packs, including measurements, construction details, BOMs, and callouts
• Develop and maintain accurate spec sheets for all styles
• Review and comment on samples, fittings, and revisions to ensure fit, quality, and design intent
• Communicate fit and construction feedback clearly to factories and production partners
• Collaborate on fabric, trim, and material selection to ensure production feasibility
Print, Pattern & Graphic Design
• Design repeat prints, engineered prints, and placement graphics
• Prepare print-ready files and colorways for production
• Work with vendors to approve strike-offs, lab dips, and print samples
• Ensure accurate scaling, color consistency, and placement across sizes and styles
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with production and operations teams to meet development timelines
• Collaborate with merchandising and leadership on assortment planning and pricing considerations
• Support photoshoots and fittings as needed to ensure product accuracy and representation
Quality & Production Support
• Assist in production approvals and pre-production checks
• Ensure garments meet quality, fit, and construction standards prior to bulk production
• Support troubleshooting during sampling and production as issues arise
Requirements
• 3–6 years of experience in apparel design with hands-on technical design and print & patternmaking experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Design, or a related field from an accredited institution or recognized fashion school
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, grading, and patternmaking principles
• Proven experience creating tech packs and managing fittings
• Experience designing prints, patterns, and surface graphics for apparel
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Experience working directly with overseas factories
• Strong understanding of fabrications, trims, and production methods
• Ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• Knowledge of PLM systems
• Experience across multiple apparel categories (woven, knit, cut & sew)
• Background in contemporary or premium apparel brands
• Based in Los Angeles — in-person role
Benefits:
• Hands-on experience in fashion apparel design
• Career growth within a dynamic, collaborative team
• Competitive pay: $25 - $35 per hour based on experience
• Occasional product perks and team events
