About the Role
SII Group USA is looking for an experienced Senior Database Administrator to support and manage PostgreSQL and Oracle database environments for one of our key clients in Houston.
This is a hybrid role, requiring regular on-site presence at the client site in the Post Oak area, combined with remote work flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
• Administer, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL and Oracle databases
• Ensure database performance, availability, and reliability
• Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching
• Monitor databases and proactively troubleshoot issues
• Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
• Support production and non-production environments
• Work closely with application, infrastructure, and security teams
• Ensure compliance with security and best-practice standards
• Provide documentation and operational support as required
Required Experience & Skills
• 8+ years of experience as a Database Administrator
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL and Oracle
• Solid experience with:
• Performance tuning and optimization
• Backup & recovery strategies
• High availability and disaster recovery setups
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale environments
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a hybrid on-site / remote model
• Must be based in the Houston area
Nice to Have
• Experience with cloud-based databases (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Scripting skills (Shell, Python, or similar)
• Experience in regulated or large enterprise environments
• Oracle or PostgreSQL certifications
