Job Description: The Database Administrator is a crucial member of the information technology department, responsible for overseeing the performance, integrity, and security of databases. This position requires a deep understanding of both software and hardware components and a proactive approach to anticipate growth and spot potential issues before they become problems. The Database Administrator will ensure that data remains consistent across the database, facilitate data recovery in case of failure, and develop strategies for data backup and recovery. Working closely with other IT professionals, the Database Administrator will play a vital role in the architecture and implementation of evolving database technologies to optimize storage, retrieval, and data manipulation procedures. Responsibilities • Ensure the performance, integrity, and availability of databases at all times. • Develop, implement, and regularly test data security measures and standards. • Collaborate with development teams to optimize database queries and structures. • Conduct routine database maintenance tasks such as upgrades and patches. • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure efficient operations. • Design and implement disaster recovery solutions for data preservation. • Create database user access protocols and maintain database security standards. • Implement and manage comprehensive database maintenance schedules. • Design, create, and maintain efficient database backup procedures. • Seek continuous improvement in database performance and capacity planning. • Provide end-user support and training to ensure optimal database use. • Document database applications, policies, and procedures for archival and reference. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. • Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role. • Strong knowledge of database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server. • Proficiency in database programming languages and applications, like SQL. • Solid understanding of data privacy and protection policies and practices. • Experience with database backup, recovery, and migration practices. • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail when troubleshooting. Requirements:
