Amazon is expanding the Data Center management team in India. This position serves as the primary operational resource to support ADSIPL within its owned and operated Data Centers in India. This position will provide a central point of ownership and accountability for the overall hands-on management of the Mechanical, Electrical (M&E) and across ADSIPL’s portfolio of Data Centers in India. It will be responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the critical infrastructure supporting IT operations within the Indian Data Center space. It will include event management, incident management, problem management, change management, and cost/contract management, and relationship management with landlords, critical facility vendors, the Data Center Construction and Operations teams, Technical Program Managers, Security, and Logistics in India. The role requires 24x7 on-call coverage, scheduled weekend work, and rotational shifts. The location for this job may be discussed, with opportunities in several India locations.
Key responsibilities
Following are the primary responsibilities (but not limited to) of Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Engineer:
Operations and Maintenance
• Ownership of all Data Center changes/events/incidents/problems from beginning to end, including overseeing post-mortems, root cause analysis, and follow-up resolution actions.
• Plan and execute maintenance/repairs of site-critical facility infrastructure to support business needs.
• Asset and Inventory management.
• Develop and maintain method statements, standard operating procedures, emergency response procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and all technical documentation.
• Ensure standardization and consistency with best-in-class operating practices (Technical Writing Skills and Automation).
• Develop deep knowledge of design intent, operational alternatives, and contingency plans for all Data Center systems.
• Manage engineering aspects of Data Centers related to financial and cost control, code and regulatory compliance, personnel management, and staff development.
• Health & Safety, local statutory requirements, environmental and energy management.
• Develop and deliver regular engineering reports and ensure adherence to contracted deliverables including SLAs and KPIs.
• Communicate operating philosophies, technical information, objectives, and expectations to Amazon personnel and vendor critical facilities teams.
• Provide hands-on facility support as required (e.g., installation/decommissioning of equipment, replacement of faulty equipment, internal audits).
• Oversee technical compliance auditing and timely closure of corrective action plans; perform annual operational reviews focused on compliance with Amazon standards and regulatory requirements (audits).
• Manage development and delivery of Energy/Environmental Management Programs and stay informed on Data Center industry innovations.
Incident and Emergency Response
• Review incident reports, document trend summaries, and provide updates and recommended actions to management.
• Manage information flow during incidents with regular updates to management.
• Coordinate with vendors to resolve incidents during emergencies; may require on-site dispatch to investigate and resolve issues.
• Ensure 24x7 shift operations are conducted safely and without availability impact.
A day in the life
• Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
• Perform rack installs, rack decommissioning, and facility management.
• Provide operational readings and KPI data to ensure uptime.
• Manage on-site contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors to ensure work complies with established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
• Perform and oversee maintenance and operations on electrical, mechanical, and fire/Life Safety equipment within the data center.
• Work schedule changes may be required; shifts can be up to 12 hours and may rotate. Some locations have on-call rotations.

Basic Qualifications
• High school or equivalent diploma
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Experience in an operational role
• Master’s degree or above in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or 5+ years of related engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications
• 2+ years of operations and on-call support for data center facilities, mission critical plants, or production facilities experience
