D365 Finance Lead Developer / Solution Architect

Role: D365 Finance Lead Developer / Solution Architect Location: New York - Hybrid/Remote Duration: Contract Experience: 10–15+ years (with 6+ years in D365 Finance) Role Summary The D365 Finance Lead Developer / Solution Architect will lead the design, configuration, and delivery of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance solutions across core finance and project accounting domains. This role requires strong techno-functional expertise, hands-on configuration and development experience, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable D365 solutions. The architect will also guide integrations, reporting, and AI-enabled automation initiatives. Core Skills & Responsibilities • Finance (Primary) • Lead implementation and optimization of D365 Finance modules: • Accounts Payable (AP) • Accounts Receivable (AR) • General Ledger (GL) • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) • Design chart of accounts, financial dimensions, posting profiles, and fiscal calendars • Support period close, consolidations, budgeting, and financial reporting • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls • Project Accounting (Primary) • Architect and configure Project Operations / Project Accounting including: • Project setup and structures • Project budgeting and forecasting • Revenue recognition (fixed-price, T&M) • Project cost tracking and allocations • Project invoicing and billing rules • Integrate AI-enabled OCR and automation for: • Invoice capture • Expense processing • Project-related document handling • Support integration with third-party project management or billing systems as needed • Techno-Functional D365 Expertise (Primary) • Act as solution architect for end-to-end D365 Finance implementations Lead: • D365 configuration and environment management • Workflow design and approvals • Security roles and segregation of duties • Oversee and perform: • Integrations (Power Platform, Azure Logic Apps, Data Management Framework, APIs) • Customizations using X++, extensions, and event handlers • Design and deliver: • Financial and operational reports (Financial Reporter, Power BI, SSRS) • Data models and analytics for leadership dashboards • Provide technical leadership to developers and functional consultants • Drive best practices, performance optimization, and upgrade readiness Secondary Skills (Nice To Have) Supply Chain Management • Working knowledge of D365 Supply Chain modules: • Procurement and Sourcing • Inventory Management • Basic Warehousing • Understand financial impact of supply chain transactions on GL and sub-ledgers • Support integrations and reporting across Finance and Supply Chain Required Qualifications • 10–15+ years of overall ERP experience with strong D365 Finance focus • 6+ years hands-on experience in D365 Finance implementations • Proven experience as a Lead Developer, Technical Architect, or Solution Architect • Strong understanding of finance and accounting processes • Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency environments • Excellent stakeholder communication and leadership skills Preferred Qualifications • Microsoft D365 certifications (Finance, Solution Architect, Developer) • Experience with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) • Exposure to AI/ML use cases in finance (OCR, automation, analytics) • Prior experience in large-scale or global rollouts We are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace where individuals from all backgrounds feel valued and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives.
