Position Overview: The Cloud Engineer II designs, implements, and maintains cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and Microsoft 365. This role focuses on automation, scalability, security, and operational excellence in multi-cloud environments. The Cloud Engineer II collaborates with IT leadership to deliver infrastructure-as-code solutions, optimize cloud spending, and ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements. Duties / Responsibilities: • Design and deploy cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure. Architect solutions for compute, storage, networking, and database services. Implement best practices for high availability, disaster recovery, and cost optimization. • Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK. Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment workflows to reduce manual intervention and improve consistency. • Administer Microsoft 365 tenant including Exchange Online, SharePoint, and security policies. Configure mail flow rules, data loss prevention (DLP), conditional access, and compliance features. • Implement security controls and compliance frameworks across cloud environments. • Optimize cloud resources and manage cost through rightsizing, reserved instances, and automated scaling policies. Monitor usage patterns and provide recommendations to reduce waste. • Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, Bash, and AWS CLI to streamline operational tasks. Integrate with CI/CD pipelines for continuous deployment and testing. • Design and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for cloud-based workloads. Automate snapshot management, cross-region replication, and recovery testing procedures. • Monitor and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure using tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and third-party observability platforms. Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures. • Lead cloud migration and integration projects from planning through execution. Collaborate with application teams, security, and networking to deliver complex infrastructure initiatives. • Mentor and support team members by providing technical guidance, conducting knowledge transfer sessions, and promoting best practices for cloud operations. • Maintain comprehensive documentation of architectures, runbooks, procedures, and policies. Generate reports on system performance, security posture, and cost metrics for management review. • Additional duties as assigned. Required Skills / Abilities: • Advanced knowledge of AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, Transit Gateway, and Organizations. • Proficiency with Azure services such as Virtual Machines, Storage Accounts, Virtual Networks, Azure AD (Entra ID), and Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates. • Expertise administering Microsoft 365 environments including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, security and compliance centers, and identity management. • Strong proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK. • Advanced scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, and Bash. Experience with AWS CLI and Azure CLI. • Deep understanding of networking concepts including VPC design, subnets, routing, NAT, VPNs, Transit Gateway, DNS, and firewall rules. • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, or EKS. • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline. • Experience with monitoring and logging platforms such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, DataDog, or Prometheus/Grafana. • Strong understanding of security frameworks, IAM policies, encryption standards, and compliance requirements (HIPAA, SOC 2, NIST). Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred. • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, systems engineering, or DevOps roles. • 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure in production environments. • Proven experience building and maintaining infrastructure-as-code solutions. • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional), AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or HashiCorp Certified Terraform Associate are highly desirable. Physical Requirements: • Will frequently communicate over video calls with internal and external stakeholders.
