About the Role
As a Backend Engineer (Kotlin), you will shape the evolution of a high-traffic platform by leading the migration from a legacy monolith to a modern Service‑Oriented Architecture. You’ll define architecture, infrastructure standards, and best practices while mentoring senior engineers and guiding technical decisions across GCP, microservices, and CI/CD pipelines. This role offers the opportunity to influence backend strategy at scale, drive system reliability, and grow as a technical leader in a culture that values ownership, innovation, and engineering excellence.
What
You Will Do
• Design and develop scalable microservices using Golang for transactional systems and/or Kotlin for Backend‑for‑Frontends (BFF)
• Take ownership of infrastructure provisioning using Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
• Migrate data and logic from a legacy PHP monolith to Cloud SQL/Spanner
• Collaborate with mobile engineers to define API schemas and requirements
• Ensure high performance and reliability of services deployed to Cloud Run/GKE
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code
Must Haves
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years of backend software development experience
• Strong proficiency in Go (Golang) and/or Kotlin (server‑side)
• Hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) (Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Big Query)
• Experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools
• Solid understanding of Microservices architecture and distributed systems
• Experience with relational (
PostgreSQL
) and No
SQL databases
Nice to Haves
• Ability to read and understand PHP
• Experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers
• Experience with Event‑Driven Architecture
