Backend Engineer (Java | CI/CD | OpenShift)

Role Overview We are seeking a Backend Engineer with strong Java and container platform experience to design, build, and operate scalable backend systems. This role involves hands-on development, CI/CD automation, platform administration, and close collaboration with infrastructure and product teams in a complex enterprise environment. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performance backend systems and REST APIs using Java • Write clean, well-structured, testable code aligned with industry best practices and enterprise standards • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, JFrog Artifactory, and Bitbucket to enable automated build, test, and deployment workflows • Perform OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) and PCF administration, including application deployment, scaling, monitoring, and troubleshooting • Integrate and manage observability tools such as Grafana and Greylog to monitor system health, performance, and logs • Collaborate with frontend, UI/UX, and product teams to deliver end-to-end, integrated solutions • Work closely with infrastructure teams to build and maintain environments including OpenShift, Redis, PostgreSQL, S3, and NFS • Support setup and configuration of network routes, load balancers, and firewall rules as required • Manage SSL certificates, identity, and access management components • Participate in technical discussions, reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives Required Skills • 4 to 6 years of hands-on experience in backend development • Strong proficiency in Java and backend application design • Practical experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, JFrog Artifactory, and Bitbucket • Experience administering container platforms, preferably OpenShift (OCP) and/or PCF • Solid understanding of observability, monitoring, and logging tools • Working knowledge of databases and infrastructure components such as Redis, PostgreSQL, object storage, and file systems • Good understanding of networking fundamentals, security, and access control • Strong collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional teams Preferred Skills • Experience writing Cypher queries • Exposure to large-scale enterprise or regulated environments Application Note Interested applicants may send their CV directly to View email address on mycareersfuture.gov.sg for consideration.
