Web Designer
IMP Digital | Burlington, ON | In-Office | $55,000–$75,000
About IMP Digital
We're a 25-person digital marketing agency with 20+ years of experience and 200+ clients across pool/spa, home building, healthcare, and professional services. Web design is at the core of what we do—every client needs a site that looks great, converts visitors, and ranks in search.
We're looking for talented web designers who can build beautiful, functional WordPress sites from start to finish.
The Role
You're not just making things look pretty—you're building complete websites that work. From initial design concepts to a fully functional, SEO-friendly WordPress site, you own the process. You'll work with client assets, create original graphics, integrate forms and third-party tools, and deliver pixel-perfect results.
What you'll do:
• Design and build WordPress websites from start to finish using Elementor
• Create smart, intuitive UI that guides users toward conversion
• Develop compelling visual elements—hero sections, graphics, icons, imagery—using client assets, AI tools (like Nano Banana), or stock images
• Integrate forms, CRMs, booking tools, chat widgets, and other third-party applications
• Ensure every site is responsive, fast, and optimized for all devices
• Build with SEO in mind—proper heading structure, meta tags, image optimization, clean URLs, schema markup
• Obsess over the details: alignment, spacing, typography, consistency—pixel-perfect execution
• Collaborate with developers when custom functionality is needed
• Revise and iterate based on client feedback while maintaining design integrity
• Stay current on design trends, WordPress updates, and new tools that improve workflow
What We're Looking For
Must-haves:
• 3+ years of web design experience with a strong portfolio of WordPress sites
• Expert-level proficiency in WordPress and Elementor (or similar page builders)
• Ability to build complete sites independently—not just design mockups, but functional websites
• Strong graphic design skills—you can create banners, icons, and visual assets as needed
• Understanding of UI/UX principles: layout, hierarchy, navigation, calls-to-action
• Knowledge of on-page SEO: heading structure, title tags, meta descriptions, image alt text, internal linking
• Experience integrating third-party tools: forms (Gravity Forms, WPForms), CRMs, calendars, payment systems
• Pixel-perfect attention to detail—spacing, alignment, consistency matter to you
• Comfortable working with client brand guidelines and assets
Nice-to-haves:
• Experience with Figma, Adobe XD, or Photoshop for design mockups
• Basic CSS/HTML knowledge for fine-tuning designs
• Familiarity with site speed optimization (image compression, caching, lazy loading)
• Experience with AI design tools (Nano Banana, Midjourney, DALL-E, etc.)
• Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG)
• Agency experience managing multiple client projects
What Makes a Great Candidate
You have an eye for design and the technical skills to bring it to life. You don't hand off a mockup and wait—you build the actual site. You understand that a beautiful website that doesn't convert or rank is a failure, so you design with purpose.
You're detail-obsessed. When something is off by a few pixels, it bothers you. When spacing is inconsistent, you fix it. You take pride in craft.
You're resourceful. Need an image? You'll source it, generate it with AI, or create it yourself. Need to integrate a tool you haven't used before? You'll figure it out.
