About the Role
A leading financial services organization is hiring a VP of Data Engineering to own the data function end-to-end and build a modern, scalable foundation for analytics, reporting, and AI use cases.
This is a high-impact leadership role for someone with true executive presence who can set strategy, lead teams, and drive modernization, but is also hands-on when needed. You’ll partner closely with the CTO and business stakeholders to turn data into a real strategic advantage across the company.
What You’ll Do
• Own enterprise data strategy, architecture, and delivery across the organization
• Lead modernization of the data platform (legacy → cloud-native), including warehouse/lakehouse direction
• Build and scale a high-performing data engineering team (onshore/offshore)
• Drive “data as a service” and establish trusted, governed, accessible data products
• Implement strong governance, quality, and controls to support reporting + decision-making
• Partner with analytics, product, risk, and security teams to align data initiatives to business priorities
• Establish operational excellence across pipelines, SLAs, documentation, and team standards
• Translate technical tradeoffs into clear business language for non-technical leaders
• Ensure data platforms are secure, reliable, and built for scale
What You Bring
• 12–15+ years in data engineering / data platform leadership (enterprise scale preferred)
• Proven experience leading teams and building modern data orgs from the ground up
• Strong cloud + data platform expertise (Snowflake experience strongly preferred)
• Experience modernizing legacy environments and driving large migration programs
• Strong grasp of governance, data quality, lineage, and “single source of truth” frameworks
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at the exec level
• Pragmatic operator mindset: strategic, but able to roll up sleeves and unblock delivery
• Experience in financial services / regulated environments is a plus
