Technical Lead - TypeScript / React Native - Fully Remote
My client is seeking an exceptional Tech Lead- someone who has risen through high-performing engineering environments (startups/scaleups especially), shows clear progression, is widely regarded as an A-player, and combines strong leadership capability with a deep love of coding.
We are looking for an engineer who has already demonstrated real influence and impact within strong product-led organisations: someone who has led teams, mentored engineers, made architectural decisions, and delivered at pace-yet still wants to spend around 80% of their time writing high-quality production code.
This is a truly hands-on leadership role: acting as a player-coach, guiding the engineering team through the next phase of scale while maintaining excellent technical standards and velocity.
What You'll Be Working On
• Mobile Apps: TypeScript, React Native, Expo
• Backend: TypeScript, GCP/Firebase Cloud Functions, GCP Pub/Sub, Postgres, Prisma
• Web Apps: TypeScript, React, Vercel
• Internal ERP: TypeScript, Next.js, Vercel
• Deployment: High-velocity release culture-multiple deploys per day to tens of thousands of users
Key Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end development and delivery of features across mobile, backend, and internal tools
• Shape the technical roadmap and make high-impact architectural and scaling decisions
• Maintain high quality, reliability, observability, and performance across all applications
• Act as a mentor and technical guide, establishing strong engineering principles and practices
• Drive engineering productivity using modern AI-accelerated development tools
• Remain highly hands-on-writing production code daily and unblocking the team when needed
• Collaborate directly with founders, influencing both technical and product direction
Requirements
We are specifically seeking candidates with:
• Experience in strong engineering environments (high-calibre startups, scaleups, or product-led teams)
• Clear career progression demonstrating growth, responsibility, and impact
• Demonstrated leadership ability: mentoring engineers, guiding decisions, supporting delivery
• Desire to remain hands-on (approx. 80% coding) while providing effective technical leadership
Technical Skills:
• Deep experience with TypeScript, React Native, React, Node, Postgres, GCP/Firebase
• Full-stack mindset: mobile, backend, web, SQL
• Track record of writing production-ready, maintainable, and observable code
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced release culture (multiple deploys/day)
• Product-focused mindset with strong user empathy
• 5+ years of engineering experience in high-velocity product environments
• Experience with AI-powered SWE tools (Cursor, Windsurf, v0, etc.)
Preferred:
• Ability to work from the London office 3 days per week
