RESPONSIBILITIES
• Use 3D CAD modeling software to create mechanical components and system assemblies
• Support in Designing, developing, analyzing, documenting and testing of mechanical components and assemblies
• Conduct analysis (tolerance, thermal, structural, optical, etc.) using appropriate tools for the job. Leverages engineering tools such as CAD, and FEA software to design components and systems
• Perform engineering analysis to understand how loads and environmental factors affect performance of systems and components
• Participate in design reviews and support to improve existing products (problem-solving, development of next generation, support to production team)
• Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis using engineering/physics principles.
• Process development to ensure design intent and manufacturability
• Generate supporting data packs/artefacts of designed optical components and systems
• Provide mentoring, technical oversight and task delegation as appropriate
REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in opto-mechanical systems design and development
• Bachelor degree or higher in Opto-mechanical/Mechanical engineering.
• Proficiency at using CAD modelling and simulation (e.g. Solidworks, CATIA ANSYS, etc.)
• Experienced in GD&T for components and assemblies
• Proficiency in structural, mechanical, thermal, and vibration system design and testing
• Experience in mechanical system design and complex component assemblies
• Knowledge of material properties and mechanical fabrication techniques
• Expert in design for manufacturability, assembly, and maintenance
• Familiar with electro-optics lab testing equipment including autocollimators, shakers, etc.
• (Preferably) Familiar with optical modelling tool (Zemax)
• (Preferably) Having worked with optical assemblies and systems
