Responsibilities
Provides a variety of engineering and project management services for the Trolley Pole Replacement Program and other projects related to the trolley overhead network.
Works with Technical Supervisors in designing a variety of overhead improvements including details of overhead assemblies and layouts, etc.
Prepares cost estimates, specifications and tendering documents for trolley overhead relocation projects.
Acts as project lead on assigned projects.
Provides subject matter expertise advice in the design/review of inspection tools and safety devices necessary for the safe and proper implementation of assigned projects.
Provides technical advice and direction to staff and contractors engaged in pole foundation and underground duct work.
Prepares CAD design drawings for construction of new facilities or changes to existing overhead network.
Liaises with concerned CMBC departments, TransLink departments, municipal engineering departments, Ministry of Transportation, project consultants, contractors and BC Hydro regarding planned work and facilities under construction to facilitate construction schedule.
Prepares and coordinates the ongoing revisions and issues of the Trolley Overhead Construction Standards and Parts Catalogue.
Qualifications
Requires Grade twelve (12) graduation plus a diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering Technology, including training in project management methods and CAD software.
Requires three (3) years experience, including a period as Technologist in Training, to have planned and coordinated independently a variety of capital projects, to have developed skills to communicate effectively with, and obtain cooperation from contractors, suppliers, civic planning and engineering staff.
An additional up to one (1) year on the job to learn the technical aspects of CMBC trolley overhead, policies, procedures and systems for managing capital projects, understand the roles and develop relationships with other CMBC departments and external contractors, and regulators (e.g. City staff).

Rate of Pay
Salary $8,236 - $9,896 per month (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).
