Compensation Details
• Tech Lead 18: Salaries typically range from $96,557 to $128,743 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location:
• Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
• This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, and Laval.

Team Overview
The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:
• Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
• Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
• Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
• Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.
As EDC aims to be the leader in making Canada and the World better through trade, the Digital Platform Delivery & Architecture (DPDA) group in EDC plays a critical role in enabling the business to leverage technologies by providing an easy-to-use, secure and fit-for-purpose digital business platforms.
To position ourselves for success, the Digital Business Platforms group is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Automation Technical Lead to help spearhead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, high-performing automation solutions within our financial services ecosystem. The automation tool set currently includes UiPath, ServiceNow CSM & Automaton Centre, Power Apps, and Azure AI. This is a strategic leadership role where you will help define architectural direction, and drive digital transformation using the aforementioned Automation Platforms and cutting-edge DevOps practices.

What You Will Be Doing
• Lead automation development projects, ensuring adherence to best practices, security, and compliance standards.
• Architect and implement tailored UiPath, ServiceNow CSM, and Azure AI solutions that meet business needs and align with enterprise architecture.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentorship to developers, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated, scalable automation solutions.
• Advocate for DevOps practices and spearhead the setup of CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub.
• Stay current with emerging automation trends, technologies, and industry regulations to ensure solutions remain innovative and compliant.
• Translate business needs into robust technical solutions and lead software design, development, and integration activities according to EDC standards.
• Guide adoption of best practices in coding, documentation, testing, and overall software lifecycle management.
• Communicate complex technical concepts effectively, influencing senior stakeholders and driving consensus.
Additional Responsibilities (Platform & Governance Focus)
• Run and calibrate the automation platform for optimal performance and alignment with business requirements.
• Plan and coordinate technical releases, including upgrades, patches, and emergency fixes, while proactively managing risks and impacts.
• Implement emerging technologies through secure PoCs/PoVs with guardrails, ensuring scalability and compliance.
• Own technical incident response and participate in Root Cause Analysis to strengthen platform reliability.
• Monitor vendor release notes and enterprise changes to anticipate impacts on production automations and plan mitigations.
• Promote cost-effective platform usage by tracking license and infrastructure utilization and revoking unused licenses.
• Lead technical design reviews and enforce quality gates to ensure solutions meet governance and operational standards.
• Develop and maintain reusable libraries and components to accelerate delivery and reduce technical debt.
• Enable and govern Citizen Developers by mentoring, supporting CoP sessions, and enforcing technical standards.
• Collaborate with vendors to understand platform roadmaps and identify features that deliver business value.
• Own Change Request (CR) deployments—conduct risk assessments, validate governance, and coordinate with Release Manager for production deployment.
What We Are Looking For
• Post-secondary degree in a related field such as Computer Science or Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of experience as a technical lead, working on Automation in an enterprise environment.
• Extensive experience with Automation Platforms, UiPath & ServiceNow CSM.
• Strong hands-on experience in Azure DevOps for automated deployments, pipeline configurations, and version control.
• Strong knowledge of Git branching strategies, pull requests, and repository management.
• Proven track record in leading development teams and successfully delivering enterprise-level Automation solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of financial services processes.
What Will Make You Stand Out
• Experience in ServiceNow CSM & Automation Centre, and/or Azure AI.
• Understanding of banking, insurance, or financial regulations.
• Familiarity with Agentic AI concepts and frameworks for intelligent automation.
• Strong understanding of automation architecture and platform governance.
• Bilingual in both official languages (English and French).
