• *Role Summary**:
You must have a strong interest in working in the Internet freedom industry and will contribute to providing a world class service to our users. You will work closely and collaborate with developers to manage the service infrastructure. You will work to improve and expand the service infrastructure as required. You will use appropriate tools to monitor for system deficiencies and failures and take appropriate action in a timely fashion.
• *Key Duties**:
- Linux system administration.
- Provision, set up, maintain, and monitor local and cloud services.
- Configure and maintain monitoring systems.
- Ensure server uptime.
- Respond to alerts and take appropriate action.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and isolate issues.
- Work closely with DevOps to identify, mitigate, and resolve software issues.
- Recognize deficiencies and implement effective solutions for continuous improvement.
- Installs and configures Linux systems including back-end databases and scripts.
- Performs system maintenance by reviewing error logs.
- Creates system backups.
- Monitors system performance to prevent slowdowns and crashes and tune server performance.
- Provides technical support.
- Maintains system security.
• *Skills and Experience**:
- Proven experience as a Linux System Administrator.
- Experience with cloud VPS services (AWS, Linode, Digital Ocean).
- Experience deploying and managing services exposed to the Internet.
- Knowledge of network security, intrusion detection, and threat mitigation.
- Familiarity with programming concepts and scripting languages is necessary (Git, Go, - Perl, Python, Shell scripting).
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.
- Written and verbal communication skills, documentation, and training.
- Experience with docker and containerd.
- Experience with Hypervisors including VMWare and Proxmox.
- Knowledgeable about system logging and alerting, including syslog, prometheus and visualization dashboards
- Knowledge about firewalls, (iptables and nftables).
- Experience managing internal network resources including:
- DNS/DHCP.
- Network switches routers, VLAN management and security.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field can be a strong foundation.
- Certifications like CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or similar Linux certifications can be valuable.
