About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Oracle Data Architect to support a high-visibility initiative for a large enterprise client. This role will be responsible for defining and guiding data architecture that supports cloud-based business applications with external touchpoints. A candidate that has created an enterprise level application hosted in the cloud is ideal.
The Senior Oracle Data Architect will lead architectural decision-making for structured data systems, establish data standards, and work closely with engineering teams to ensure designs are translated into scalable, secure, and reliable implementations. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong collaboration skills, and experience operating within complex enterprise environments.
• This position requires the candidate to be on-site at our client's office in downtown Houston, TX. Furthermore, the position entails an average of 10% travel within the USA.
Responsibilities:
• Define and own enterprise and application-level data architecture for cloud-hosted platforms.
• Lead architectural decisions related to structured data models, relational systems, and Python-enabled data pipelines and services.
• Establish and maintain data standards, schemas, and governance practices.
• Partner closely with Senior Data Engineers to translate architecture into implementation, including Python-based ETL/ELT workflows and microservices.
• Design data models optimized for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Support integrations with downstream systems and external-facing consumers, including Python APIs/services that expose or consume data.
• Ensure architecture aligns with security, compliance, and enterprise best practices.
• Contribute to architectural documentation, reviews, and long-term roadmap planning.
Requirements:
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture or related senior technical roles.
• Deep expertise in structured data systems and relational design.
• Strong proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and integration (e.g., building data pipelines, APIs, or services).
• Hands-on experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Proven experience designing data architectures for cloud-based applications.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, normalization, and data governance.
• Cloud platform experience required (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience strongly preferred.
• Experience working in large-scale, enterprise, or regulated environments.
• Exposure to unstructured data platforms is a plus, but not required.
• Experience supporting platforms used by external stakeholders or partners.
