We’re looking for a Senior Full-Stack Developer / Technical Lead who enjoys balancing hands-on development with technical leadership and experimentation. This is a hybrid individual contributor and tech-lead role with no direct reports, ideal for someone who wants to stay close to the code, while also helping elevate and offload existing tech leads. You’ll be expected to ship meaningful production work, bring strong technical judgment, and independently explore, prototype, and validate AI-driven product ideas.
You’ll report directly to the SVP of Software Engineering and Technology, giving you a high degree of visibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to challenge existing approaches when it leads to better outcomes. Montreal-based candidates are strongly preferred. This is a remote-first role with monthly in-office collaboration in our Montreal office.
What You’ll Do:
Core Platform & Technical Leadership
• Design, develop, and ship full-stack features across the Videri Connected Cloud platform (React, Node.js, microservices).
• Contribute to architectural decisions and challenge existing patterns when improvements are needed.
• Help reduce bottlenecks by taking ownership of complex or ambiguous technical initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with existing tech leads, product managers, and designers to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
• Raise the technical bar through thoughtful design, clean code, and pragmatic decision-making.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to shared engineering standards and best practices.
• Take ownership of systems beyond initial delivery, balancing short-term execution with long-term technical health
• Ensure the reliability, performance, and maintainability of production systems, including diagnosing issues and improving existing code over time
AI & Innovation Initiatives
• Identify opportunities to apply AI to core platform workflows, including content management, automation, intelligence, and analytics.
• Research emerging tools, frameworks, and approaches relevant to AI-powered features.
• Design and build proof-of-concepts and prototypes to rapidly test ideas and validate value.
• Clearly communicate findings, trade-offs, and recommendations to product and leadership.
• Act as a catalyst for experimentation and curiosity across the engineering team.
What you have:
• Strong full-stack fundamentals with hands-on experience shipping production systems
• Solid experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, including React (front end) and Node.js (back end)
• Understanding of modern backend architectures (APIs, microservices, async systems) and relational databases/SQL
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to learn independently and work in ambiguous problem spaces
• Clear communicator who collaborates effectively with leadership and cross-functional partners
• Experience working in small, fast-moving teams where autonomy is expected
• Ability to influence technical direction without formal authority (nice to have)
• Familiarity with NestJS, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), distributed systems, or data/experimentation pipelines (nice to have)
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience preferred
Nice to have:
• Hands-on experience building or experimenting with AI-powered features, tools, or proofs of concept
• Familiarity with modern AI models and workflows (LLMs, embeddings, agents, prompt design, evaluation)
• Exposure to production AI or MLOps practices (monitoring, versioning, data pipelines, cost/performance tradeoffs)
• Comfort working in ambiguity and turning early experimentation into practical, scalable solutions
