Position Title: Software & Platform Engineer (Python and ML/AI) Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates (Al Quoz) Reports to: Director, AI & Business Development Division/Department: AI & Business Development Version Date: February 2026 1. About us We’re building the future of insurance operations in the GCC: a modern, AI-enabled operating model designed to raise fairness and transparency, improve quality, and reduce end-to-end claims costs. The focus is practical impact, measurable outcomes, and governance-grade execution suitable for regulated environments. We are backed by a global holding company with 4,000+ employees worldwide and deep experience across insurance and adjacent industries. Based in Al Quoz, Dubai, our founding team combines regional insurance expertise with strong engineering capability to build a trusted, scalable platform for the market. Our Values • Safety: We will put safety first for all parties related to our company • Quality: We strive to meet the highest quality standards throughout all facets of our business. • Innovation: We are always looking for ways to improve our current and future business methods. • Teamwork: We aspire for all of our teams to develop and work together as one cohesive unit. 2. Purpose of the Role The Software & Platform Engineer is the technical backbone of the organisation, responsible for building, integrating, and securing the technology infrastructure that powers our claims- and repair operations. This role exists to ensure our federated technology stack (core system, Attio, Notion, and custom applications) works seamlessly together while maintaining the highest standards of security and reliability. The primary objective is to develop and maintain APIs and integrations, build AI/ML-powered automation for claims processing, ensure cybersecurity compliance with UAE regulatory requirements, and keep our infrastructure running smoothly. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys variety – writing Python code in the morning, debugging an integration in the afternoon, and reviewing security controls before end of day. Major Accountabilities & Responsibilities • API Development: Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs that connect our core systems (VobeSoft, Attio, Notion) and external partners (insurers, workshops). • Middleware Engineering: Develop and maintain integration workflows using platforms like Make/Zapier or custom Python services to orchestrate data flows across the federated architecture. • Python Development: Write clean, maintainable Python code for backend services, automation scripts, and data processing pipelines. • Data Integrity: Implement idempotent, webhook-driven integrations with proper error handling, retry logic, and audit logging. AI & Machine Learning • FNOL Automation: Develop and refine AI-powered First Notice of Loss (FNOL) intake systems for speed and accuracy. • Smart Triage: Build and maintain ML models for claims triage, fraud detection indicators, and predictive analytics. • AI Integration: Integrate generative AI tools and LLMs into operational workflows where they add value. • Model Maintenance: Monitor AI/ML model performance, retrain as needed, and ensure outputs meet quality standards. Cybersecurity & Compliance • Security Architecture: Implement and maintain security controls aligned with CBUAE regulatory requirements (RBAC, MFA, encryption at rest/in transit, API authentication). • Access Control: Manage role-based access controls and segregation of duties across all systems, ensuring insurer-only approvals and the companies operational boundaries are enforced technically. • Audit & Logging: Implement immutable audit trails, central log aggregation, and correlation IDs across systems for regulatory compliance and incident investigation. • Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular security assessments, patch management, and address vulnerabilities in a timely manner. • Incident Response: Develop and maintain security incident playbooks; respond to and investigate security events. Infrastructure & Operations • Server Management: Maintain and monitor cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and cost efficiency. • DevOps Practices: Implement CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and automated deployment processes. • Backup & DR: Manage backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and conduct periodic restore tests to meet RTO/RPO targets. • Monitoring & Alerting: Set up and maintain monitoring dashboards and alerting for system health, performance, and security anomalies. Documentation & Knowledge Management • Technical Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for all systems, APIs, integrations, and security controls. • Architecture Governance: Ensure changes to the technology stack align with the architectural blueprint and federated SSOT principles. • Vendor Management: Evaluate third-party tools and services; maintain sub-processor register and conduct security reviews of vendors. Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours • Experience: 4-7 years of hands-on experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or a similar technical role. • Python: Strong proficiency in Python for backend development, APIs, scripting, and data processing. • API Development: Experience designing and building RESTful APIs; familiarity with OAuth2, webhooks, and API security best practices. • Integration Platforms: Experience with middleware/iPaaS tools (Make, Zapier, n8n) or building custom integration services. • AI/ML: Practical experience with machine learning frameworks (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and/or working with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.). • Cloud Infrastructure: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) including compute, storage, networking, and security services. • Databases: Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and understanding of data modeling principles. • Security: Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals: encryption, authentication, access control, vulnerability management, and compliance frameworks. • DevOps: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and infrastructure-as-code principles. • Regional Knowledge: Experience working in UAE or GCC preferred; understanding of regional data protection and regulatory requirements is a plus. • Languages: Fluent English required. Core Behaviours • Ownership & Reliability: Takes end-to-end responsibility for systems; when something breaks, you fix it and prevent it from breaking again. • Problem Solving: Approaches complex technical challenges methodically; debugs across multiple systems to find root causes. • Security Mindset: Thinks about security implications by default; designs systems that are secure from the ground up. • Adaptability: Comfortable switching between coding, infrastructure, security, and support tasks as priorities shift. • Communication: Explains technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders; documents thoroughly for future maintainers. • Continuous Learning: Stays current with evolving technologies, security threats, and best practices; proactively improves skills. • Attention to Detail: Writes clean code, catches edge cases, and ensures configurations are correct before deployment. You will work with and be responsible for: • Core Systems: VobeSoft (claims management), Attio (CRM), Notion (knowledge management) • Integration Layer: Custom Python services, Make/Zapier workflows, REST APIs, webhooks • AI/ML: Python ML stack, LLM APIs, custom models for claims automation • Infrastructure: Cloud hosting (to be determined based on requirements), containerization, monitoring tools • Security Tools: Identity management, encryption services, logging and SIEM, vulnerability scanning Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Application Question(s): • Salary expectations, AED monthly Experience: • Python: 5 years (Preferred) • AL/ML: 2 years (Preferred) • backend IT operations: 4 years (Preferred) Location: • Dubai (Required)
