Test Lead For NOAA AWIPS Program
Peraton is seeking a Test Lead to support the NOAA AWIPS program, the nationwide weather forecasting platform relied upon by more than 150 operational sites. In this role, you will lead system-level testing, verification, and validation efforts to ensure AWIPS delivers reliable, high-performance capabilities critical to national weather operations. This position is hybrid. Must be local to one of the following Peraton facilities: Melbourne, FL, Aurora, CO, Herndon, VA, San Antonio, TX, Houston, TX, Omaha, NE, Huntsville, AL, King of Prussia, PA, or Silver Spring, MD.
What You'll Do:
• Lead system, integration, regression, and acceptance testing activities
• Develop test plans, procedures, traceability matrices, and final reports
• Coordinate test execution with engineers and stakeholders
• Support test readiness reviews, defect tracking, and requirements compliance
• Perform system-level integration and testing of COTS and custom software
• Execute testing in Linux environments; create and modify scripts (Bash, Python, etc.)
• Support Agile development using JIRA and automated testing tools.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.
• 4 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
• 5+ years of test engineering, verification/validation, or system integration experience.
• Experience developing test plans, procedures, and traceability matrices.
• Familiarity with Linux, distributed systems, and operational testing.
• Experience supporting regression and integration testing in Agile environments.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience supporting NOAA, NWS, or other environmental or weather-focused operational systems.
• Active/Current Public Trust
Target Salary Range: $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
