As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Commercial and Investment Bank - Electronic Trading Technology team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives. Job responsibilities Design, develop, and enhance low-latency, high-throughput Java-based trading applications supporting electronic execution and market connectivity Build and maintain FIX-based connectivity, order routing, pricing, and market data components Own delivery of complex features end-to-end, from requirements analysis through production deployment Partner with Trading, Product and Operations teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions Ensure high availability, resiliency, and scalability of mission-critical trading systems Lead code reviews, enforce engineering best practices, and contribute to platform architecture decisions Participate in production support, incident management, and root-cause analysis for trading systems Mentor junior engineers and contribute to raising the overall engineering bar within the team Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience 5+ years of hands-on software development experience, primarily in Core Java Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, memory management, and JVM internals Experience building low-latency or high-performance distributed systems Good experience with FIX protocol and electronic trading workflows (order lifecycle, executions, market data) Proficiency with Linux/Unix environments, scripting, and troubleshooting production issues Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a trading environment Excellent communication skills and experience working with global stakeholders Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills Experience in Electronic Trading within Equities, F&O, FX, or Rates Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, EKS, ECS, S3, RDS, CloudWatch) and cloud-native design patterns Familiarity with microservices architecture, event-driven systems, and messaging platforms (Kafka, Solace, JMS) Exposure to AI/ML techniques applied to trading, monitoring, anomaly detection, capacity forecasting, or operational intelligence Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and container platforms Understanding of market structure, exchanges, and regulatory considerations
