Software Engineer
United Arab Emirates University, Department of Family Medicine – Big Data Analytics Center (BIDAC) seeks a talented and motivated Software Engineer to design, develop, and deploy advanced AI‑driven platforms and data applications.
In this role you will collaborate with data scientists, researchers, and engineering teams to translate cutting‑edge AI research, including large language models (LLM), into scalable, secure, and user‑friendly systems that advance the UAE’s AI and digital transformation vision.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain web and software applications for AI and data‑driven projects at BIDAC.
• Build and integrate APIs for AI/ML model deployment, data pipelines, and backend services.
• Collaborate with AI researchers to implement LLM‑based systems, chatbots, and process automation tools.
• Develop front‑end interfaces and dashboards using modern frameworks (e.g., React or Dash).
• Implement secure data access layers and ensure compliance with UAEU’s data governance policies.
• Contribute to the design and deployment of MLOps and Dev Ops pipelines for production AI applications.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code following best practices.
• Work with cross‑functional teams to deploy solutions on cloud and on‑premise environments.
• Support the development of AI‑powered educational, research, and administrative tools.
• Participate in technical documentation, testing, and version control using Git/Git Hub.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• Proven experience in Python, JavaScript, or Type Script.
• Experience with web frameworks (Flask, FastAPI, Django) and front‑end libraries (React, Vue, or Angular).
• Understanding of RESTful API design, JSON, and database integration (MySQL, Postgre
SQL, or Mongo
DB).
• Strong problem‑solving and debugging skills with attention to performance and scalability.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, or Software Engineering.
• Experience with LLM deployment, fine‑tuning, or integration (Lang Chain, RAG systems).
• Familiarity with MLOps frameworks (MLflow, DVC) and AI application deployment.
• Prior experience developing AI dashboards, data visualization tools, or analytics platforms.
• Contribution to open‑source projects or experience in AI startup / research environments.
• Knowledge of Arabic NLP or bilingual (English/Arabic) AI applications is a plus.
Expected Skills
• Familiarity with AI/ML model integration and LLM APIs (OpenAI, Hugging Face, Anthropic, etc.).
• Experience developing Gradio, or Flask‑based AI interfaces.
• Ability to work across backend, frontend, and data layers (full‑stack orientation preferred).
• Understanding of cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of data processing, API authentication, and secure data exchange protocols.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills.
• A proactive and innovative mindset with a passion for applying software to solve real‑world problems.
