Team Overview
This position requires hands on knowledge of Storage Technologies – NAS, Data Protection/Backup and the major Cloud Provider storage offerings. Should have a basic knowledge of industry Storage Hardware types and interoperability. A person in this role must be able to work with other platform engineers in their team location & global locations.
The global APG Platform Storage team is a sizable team of over 18 individuals located in three different regions that support a highly available Storage environment hosted on prem & on cloud.
We are looking for a Storage Cloud Engineer who can work with the global team to support and handle Storage products & Services hosted on cloud and our migration away from legacy, on-premises environments.
The team operates in a 24x7 model with Singapore covering 2 shifts Monday through Sunday, and Delaware covering 1 shift Mondays through Sunday. Staff works a 5-day week. Some off-hour project work is required, and the ability to support Saturday work is required. The team’s day-to-day work includes but is not limited to: Responding to alerts and user requests, Cloud Migrations and new Cloud deployments, Process automation and improvements, Documentation, Knowledge Transfer across the team and Monitoring, Solve & Performance Analysis.
Role Responsibility
Successful performance in this role requires an individual be able to perform these duties above a satisfactory level. The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill and competencies required.
· Support system operations between cloud and on-premises IT STORAGE Infrastructure
· Administer and support operations related services and products deploy to AWS and Azure platforms.
· Review & development of processes & automation (AWX, Ansible)
· Role may also include day-to-day administration of Storage estate, including supervising the Storage ticket queues, Storage Provisioning, SAN/NAS connectivity issues, storage hardware and software issues, storage device performance monitoring, storage sizing, storage integration with systems
· Must have good problem solving, partnership, communication, and customer service skills.
· There are no after-hours on call requirements, but the individual should remain flexible for critical situations.
· Solve and resolve system issues and provide operations support for bridge calls.
· Participate in the development and implementation of STORAGE related projects.
· Creation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new implementations and processes.
· Communication - Work optimally with other Infrastructure groups including the Network, Server & Database teams as well as the Application Development teams
· Documentation – Document critical processes and procedures to ensure consistency and quality.
· Put in place Storage procedures and follow Company procedures and processes to ensure that Audit and Regulatory requirements are met.
Experience
· Good knowledge of Storage Technologies – NFS, CiFS, Data Backups and data recovery.
· Demonstrable experience in Cloud Environments, with a preference for Azure and AWS, though Google Cloud knowledge is also valuable.
· Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-code experience is desirable.
· Several years in an operations role as a Storage Administrator (on-premise, cloud or both)
· Familiarity with Storage Technologies such as NetApp, Veritas/Cohesity NetBackup, Object Storage (S3, Blob) is desirable.
· Proficiency in cloud security concepts, disaster recovery planning and performance monitoring and analysis.
· Conceptual understanding of Server (Linux, Windows) and Networking components.
· Experience with Kubernetes/containers is desirable.
· Cloud certification is desirable - preferably Azure and AWS.
Qualification
· A minimum of 4+ years comparative industry experience
· Degree or equivalent experience preferred
· The position will be required to work on shifts (not overnight). These shifts will also cover weekends.
· Workdays could be staggered over the week
