Sign Design & Production Associate
Location: Chicago, IL
Pay Rate: $20/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
About the Role
We are seeking a dependable and hands-on Sign Design & Production Associate for a temp-to-hire opportunity with a busy sign-making company in Chicago. This role combines in-shop Design and Production work with field installations and deliveries. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, physically capable, and comfortable working with tools, materials, and client-facing installations, with the opportunity to convert to a permanent role based on performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Shop Production (Approximately 80%)
• Assist with sign design and production, including cutting, mounting and assembling customer materials
• Operate wide-format printers, wall cutters for sign and label production on various substrates such as Vinyl, PVC, Acrylic, and Foamboard.
• Weeding vinyl, applying labels, and comleting final sign assembly
• Pack, load, and prepare finished signs for delivery
• Perform occasional graphic design tasks to support sign layouts and production needs
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace
Delivery & Installation (Approximately 20%)
• Deliver signs and graphics to client sites using a company van
• Remove vinyl stickers and graphics from business windows
• Assist with on-site installation of signs and window graphics
• Clean windows and prep surfaces prior to installation
• Represent the company professionally while working at client locations
Physical & Technical Requirements
• Ability to perform light physical work, including reaching, crouching, bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods
• Comfortable working both in a shop environment and out in the field
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a company vehicle
Qualifications
• Prior experience in sign design and production
• Prior experience with Adobe suite of products
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and accuracy
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions
