This position is hybrid, requiring on‑site presence at the downtown Toronto office at least 3 days per week. On‑site expectations may be adjusted based on organizational needs.
Your future duties and responsibilities
UI Automation Strategy & Development
• Design, build, and maintain scalable UI automation frameworks using Selenium, Playwright, or equivalent tools.
• Drive cross browser testing strategies (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari) to ensure consistent user experiences.
• Implement automation for responsive design validation across desktop, tablet, and mobile breakpoints.
• Optimize the test suite for reliability, maintainability, and execution speed.
API Test Automation
• Develop automated functional, integration, and contract tests for REST and GraphQL APIs using Postman, RestAssured, or similar frameworks.
• Validate API reliability, error handling, performance under load, and adherence to API specifications.
• Ensure automated API tests are integrated into CI pipelines with proper reporting and notifications.
Automation Framework Architecture
• Contribute to evolving automation frameworks, making them modular, robust, and easily maintainable.
• Enhance CI/CD integration using tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab.
• Implement design patterns such as Page Object Model (POM), Screenplay, Data Driven, or BDD frameworks like Cucumber.
Functional, Integration & End to End Testing
• Drive comprehensive test planning covering functional flows, non functional requirements, user journeys, and edge cases.
• Collaborate with SMEs, Product Owners, and Business Analysts to understand branch workflows and transaction scenarios.
• Validate complex integration points across multiple platforms and third party systems.
Branch Technology & Peripheral Testing
• Perform validation of branch devices and peripherals, such as:
o Card readers
o Cash recyclers/cash dispensers
o Signature pads
o Cheque scanners
o Receipt/ledger printers
o Biometric or ID verification devices
• Troubleshoot connectivity, driver compatibility, and integration issues between peripherals and core branch applications.
Defect Management & Quality Governance
• Identify, track, and report defects using tools like Jira or Azure DevOps with clear reproduction steps and logs.
• Collaborate with Developers and Product Managers to triage defects and prioritize critical issues.
• Revalidate resolved defects and maintain traceability across test artifacts.
Shift Left Quality Strategy
• Engage early in design and requirement discussions to uncover risks, ambiguities, and system gaps.
• Promote testability and automation friendly design across features.
• Establish early testing patterns such as service mocks, test data planning, and static analysis.
Performance & Security Testing Support
• Assist with basic performance assessments including load, stress, and baseline benchmarking.
• Support UI and API level security scanning through tools like OWASP ZAP or similar vulnerability scanners.
• Work with security and performance engineers to interpret findings and validate fixes.
Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain clear documentation for automation frameworks, test scripts, execution results, and test strategies.
• Provide stakeholders with dashboards, quality trends, and release readiness reports.
• Ensure compliance with organizational QA standards and audit requirements.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Experience
• 6–10+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, with at least 3+ years in a QE Lead or Senior QE role.
• Proven leadership in driving quality strategy and managing automation across large, complex systems.
Technical Skills
• Automation
• Strong hands on experience in UI automation (Selenium, Playwright).
• Solid API automation expérience (Postman, RestAssured, Karate, etc.).
• Skilled in either Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or C# for coding test scripts.
• Frameworks / Tools
• Experience building or enhancing automation frameworks from scratch.
• Familiarity with CI/CD technologies (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.).
• Knowledge of Git branching strategies and version control best practices.
Branch Technology Expertise
• Strong understanding of branch operations, workflows, teller applications, customer servicing, and related systems.
• Ability to quickly learn new branch management platforms and complex financial transactions.
Peripheral / Hardware Integration Skills
• Experience testing physical devices integrated with software applications.
• Understanding of drivers, connectivity protocols, and hardware dependencies.
Quality Engineering Practices
• Strong grasp of test strategy, test design techniques, risk based testing, and coverage models.
• Working knowledge of both Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and traditional SDLC processes.
Soft Skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and guide teams in high pressure delivery cycles.
• A mindset oriented toward continuous improvement and innovation in automation and quality processes.

Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000–$130,000. This role is an existing vacancy."
