Position Overview: The Senior Mechanical Engineer will spearhead the design of cutting-edge building systems, create detailed design documentation, and perform engineering calculations in collaboration with project teams across multiple disciplines. Additionally, you will mentor and oversee the design team, ensuring high standards of work. Key Responsibilities: • Oversee and prepare design documents, system layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications. • Lead projects from initial concept to completion. • Review shop drawings to ensure alignment with approved plans and specifications. • Conduct research and provide insights on system feasibility and equipment assessments. • Deliver innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges in both direct and advisory capacities. • Ensure all project outputs, including drawings, specifications, and reports, meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards. • Mentor junior designers and engineers, providing support and oversight. • Assess and manage project staffing requirements and team dynamics. • Foster continuous development of both personal and team knowledge. • Assist in establishing goals, policies, objectives, and standards at the practice or sector level. • Contribute to the development of tools and resources to enhance company practices. • Implement design and engineering standards within the team. • Monitor project quality through consistent quality checks and reviews. • Build and maintain strategic partnerships to identify new business opportunities. • Network at industry and client events to strengthen relationships. • Maintain proactive communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle. • Conduct site visits to evaluate existing conditions and monitor construction progress. • Address and resolve conflicts involving owners, architects, and contractors as required. • Stay informed about emerging technologies, current industry trends, and evolving codes and standards. • Share valuable insights and suggestions for improvements with leadership and peers. • Understand and apply Henderson's design guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures. • Support project management alongside experienced project managers. • Manage project coordination tasks to ensure quality, address client inquiries, and ensure timely project delivery. • Consistently uphold the high standards expected of a PE license holder as an Engineer of Record (EOR). • Serve as an Engineer of Record when needed, taking on additional project oversight responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural engineering, with 9 years of experience, or 10 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma. • PE license is required; can count toward one year of experience. • Relevant certifications (e.g., BEMP, CPD, NICET) are necessary. • Completion of the FE exam is preferred. • Certifications in sustainability (e.g., LEED, WELL) are desirable. • Extensive knowledge of engineering design principles, industry codes, and standards. • Strong understanding of contracts and construction processes is essential. • Proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu is required. • Strong technical aptitude with a demonstrated ability to teach others. • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. • Robust critical thinking and problem-solving skills. • Team-oriented with a capacity for independent work when necessary. • Flexible and adaptable to changing environments and priorities. • Adept at managing multiple tasks within dynamic settings. • Open to giving and receiving constructive feedback. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant engineering design software. • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to mentoring and leading teams. • Exemplifies proficiency in all core competencies detailed in this job description.
