Location: Toronto, ON (Remote Role) Work Authorization: Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident (Mandatory) Security Requirement (Mandatory): Must be eligible to work on Government of Canada projects and obtain required security clearance Experience: 5–10 Years Job Type: Fixed-Term Contract Contract Length: 6 Months Certifications Preferred: • CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) • Azure Certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400) Overview Our client, a major publicly traded organization, is seeking a Senior Kubernetes / Cloud Platform Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of global Azure Kubernetes (AKS) environments. This role focuses on cluster operations, upgrades, GitOps deployments using ArgoCD, and platform reliability. This is a hybrid role based in Brampton, ON, ideal for a hands-on Kubernetes expert who thrives in structured, regulated environments. Key ResponsibilitiesKubernetes & Platform Operations • Design, implement, and enhance Kubernetes platform features, including ingress controllers, routing rules, TLS configuration, and traffic management patterns • Develop and extend Helm-based platform components to support application onboarding and standardized deployments • Contribute to shared Kubernetes services (ingress, certificates, secrets management, configuration patterns) • Partner with application teams to design Kubernetes-native deployment patterns and platform abstractions • Improve developer experience by enabling reusable, self-service Kubernetes capabilities through GitOps workflows GitOps, Helm & Automation • Manage GitOps-based deployments using Argo CD • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Helm charts • Work with existing Terraform modules (infrastructure provisioning is out of scope) • Support CI/CD pipelines for Kubernetes workloads Monitoring, Reliability & Security • Monitor Kubernetes workloads and platform health • Support logging, monitoring, and observability tools (Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana) • Follow security and compliance best practices aligned with Government of Canada standards • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and operational improvements Collaboration • Work closely with application, infra, architecture teams and the central infrastructure team • Provide operational guidance and platform best practices • Maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures Required Skills & Qualifications • 5–10 years of experience in Cloud / Platform / DevOps Engineering • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes (AKS preferred) • Deep experience with Helm • Strong experience with Terraform (consuming and working with existing IaC) • Hands-on experience with Argo CD and GitOps workflows • Solid experience working in Microsoft Azure • Strong troubleshooting skills in production environments • Scripting experience with PowerShell and/or Bash • Excellent communication and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications • Experience supporting Government of Canada or other regulated environments • Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD, CKS) • Experience with ingress controllers (Istio, NGINX, Azure Application Gateway) • Familiarity with blue-green or canary deployment strategies • Experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools • Experience supporting high-availability (HA) and DR Kubernetes setups Client Selection Process • Candidate profile shared with client upon consent • Interview conducted directly with the client • Security clearance validation • Contract offer issued What We Offer • Competitive contract compensation • Opportunity to work on large-scale global Kubernetes platform • Collaborative and highly skilled engineering environment • Meaningful, hands-on Kubernetes and cloud-native work Additional Details Schedule: • 8-hour shift • Monday to Friday Location Requirement: • Toronto, ON (Remote) • Must reliably commute or relocate before starting Education: • Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred) Job Type: Fixed term contract Contract length: 6 months Pay: $60.00-$90.00 per hour Application question(s): • Are you legally authorized to work in Canada and eligible to work on Government of Canada contracts, where specific security or compliance requirements may apply?
